WTF? In 16 rounds,we will have played 6 of them against 3 sides?

On last year's form that's five losses!, that's if the Cats rest four.

I think the reigning premier should always get a home game in Rd 1 to unfurl the flag but from a personal greedy point of view I'm stoked that Geelong are playing Port in Adelaide in Rd 1.
My son and I will be wearing our premiership gear and I plan to make a large sing that says simply "119".

I would think this pretty much the standard.11 home games and 9 other potential away games against other Melbourne based sides???I know Hawthorn only go interstate on away games 4 times this year also ....Whats with the Collingwood bashing again....How about getting rid of the 2x showdown and 2 x WA derby games situation each year if you want Melbourne sides interstate more.

Only 3-4 games outside your home state is a great result for any team RW, its far from 'standard'.

Want evidence? Count up the Hawthorn games again (tip - Aurora stadium is in Tasmania) - its more than 4 times for them ....

Last year the Roos has 8-9 away from Melbourne IIRC

Collingwood get a definite advantage from playing in Mebourne 18 times. Imagine Eddie's response if they had to travel interstate 10 times ... (like some teams)?

Absolute tripe Hondo. How can you include Hawthorn CHOOSING to play 4 Home games away in that list.If NORTH CHOOSE to do the same in Canberra or Gold Coast you cant add that to the list also .Did you read the word AWAY in my post??.Even Melbourne CHOOSE to play a home game in Brisbane. Also North last year got the short straw of a Hawthorn game in Tassie which you have added to the travel list i see.. Thats for the geography tip by the away but I am am well aware where the ground is .IT is a Hawthorn HOME GROUND .If THEY did not CHOOSE to play there and the game was at the MCG how many times would the Hawks travel I ask back at you and your evidence line? Please find me an example where a Melbourne side travelled interstate 10 times in one season for AWAY games and get back to us all please. :?

Doesn't matter if you choose it or not ... its still an 'interstate' match

You still have to get on a plane, break up the normal routine etc

Collingwood do it 4 times .... compared to Hawthorn 8, Crows 10, Power 10, Dockers 10, Swans 10, Lions 10, Eagles 10.

Collingwood have the most favourable draw ... you know it, I know it, we all know it.

I think the interstate teams who rest up and play teams that have travelled 10-11 times a year get it pretty good too

I don't hold it against Collingwood

Just pointing out one of the many inequities in the draw when $$$$ compromise an even spread of games over a set number of years as the SANFL does

Collingwood got there through building a strong supporter and financial base - they are the best crowd puller and they are rewarded with the most games at the biggest stadium. Essendon not too far behind them. Poor Roos, Bullies, Hawks have to fit in around them.

Makes sense financially ..... but still an inequity we are allowed to point out surely?

How many times does Collingwood play against a side that has travelled interstate to play them is another question I will ask?? If interstate travel is such a disadvantage I can only assume it is an advantage to the home team then .So how many times does Collingwood play a side that has travelled interstate to play them compare to say....Adelaide  ??

Played them once here in 07,and once there in 06.Good news hey?

Actually in 2006 and 2007 the games between Port and WCE were both at AAMI.

I didnt actually mean it like that anyway, i was just referring to the fact that Port have such a good record over the Eagles at AAMI that it was good that we get the chance to play Port at Subiaco.

And Port plays about 1 or so games in Melbourne in the first 17 rounds

Eddie's mob have to play in Perth in the last round :D Looking to see if theres any type of reaction from Eddiewood over that one.

I was surprised to see the last round for Wallywood also, surely there's been a pay off, if so Eddie wont say anything. It might be the 8 Friday night games that they get for maximum media coverage, which is fair seeing as it was Collingwood that pushed for Friday night games.... it wasn't that Nth Melb was pushed into playing Friday nights no, not at all, it was that Collingwood had the foresight to "promote" footy on Friday nights.
Eddie could make Bush look good and Howard seem truthful. Anyway Adelaide have a pretty good draw, not sure it'll help though.

So Port play more games next year at Subiaco than at the MCG?! :?

Yeah its a joke isn't it. Given that theres 10 Melbourne clubs it would mean that theres a fair chance that if Port played the finals they'd more than likely have to play a Victorian team (at the MCG) its a considerable disadvantage.

Out of all non vic teams they play at the G 13 times and at TD 19 times, not sure if it's because of the crowd numbers or what, Crows play 3 times at the G (the most for a long time) and 2 of those teams they play are Richmond and Carlton (who might get more to a game this year), while Port play once against NM, both teams couldn't draw a line.
