Dedja - the worst bit is - Ken Hinkley is the least of our troubles.

The chairman is the tumor that needs to be removed. Keep him there and all the metrics that Boon has mentioned in previous posts will continue to remain of the highest priority.

Winning a premiership will never be one of them.

I’m glad you said this out loud as this has been my point in various posts over the last few months, that is, the Port AFL is just a corporate identity, not the Port Adelaide football club that was formed in 1870 with certain values that the rest of us respected.

Could you imagine a club coached by Jack or Fos being mocked as Port AFL is now?

In your opinion who was the better coach
Fos or Jack ?

Carlton are a far better side than most on here give credit for.

Absolutely, but Port at home with their list is better than Carlton most days.

That's a very narrow view.

This works in a state league when you can monopolise talent in SA and only compete with 9 other teams, not on a national competition fighting against 17 other teams who all have "equal" access to talent nation wide.

It’s the ability to keep those values despite who comes into the club, perhaps like the Creed?

No doubt, the issue is magnified in a national comp; budgets are much larger, great increase in staff, logistics, recruitment, etc, etc, but the underlying fabric shouldn’t change.

Anyway, it’s for them to sort out.

2 games between second and ninth means nobody in that pack should be favorite over any of the others home or away. Insane to think otherwise.

True but that wasn’t my point.
Most on here don’t rate Carlton and they are showing a few just how good they can be.

Mate all AFL clubs tightly control as much as they can the messaging that gets spoken publicly. Take everything that is said with a grain of salt at pressers and in media releases website updates as it's all designed to get "the message" out. Publicly it's all about Ken seeing his contract out but you can bet your bottom dollar there is a plan to make a cut if needs be at the end of the year.

Port arent the only club perfecting their messaging to support the coach.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Looking forward to a good game at the G tomorrow.

Hawks up & about, like to think we take it right upto, and beyond the fruit tingles.

Got tickets to the pre-game 10 year (2014) Premiership function.

Should be well lubricated before the opening bounce!

Hawks should start favourites IMO, we never do well sat arvo at the G, and coming off a "bath water" type of game vs WCE, with Hawks in good form, can see us getting touched up.

as for the new improved HTB regime..............

I reckon I saw one HTB that suggested something had changed but, actually, suggests nothing has changed

The players looked confused all night whether they were going to get done

If anything, its made it more confusing

It's been my position that the rise of the sling and dump the player problem has been caused by the umpires not paying HTB quick enough. What do you do? Give the ball player a trip around the world twice, with no HTB, so he can pick the best team mate to handball it to, or dump him into the turf to ensure he cant dispose of it? Cause and effect

Walsh got pinged twice last night holding the ball that normally would have been a ball up.
Also there were a couple of times players were slung 360 degrees and the umpire paid holding the ball

I didn't see any discernable difference in how it was adjudicated, in fact there were several glaring errors ( Marshall in the middle in particular ) that showed it will take a few weeks for the umpires to adjust.

Ken generally has a plan in place to earn himself another contract though - e.g. threatening to join the Suns - he's kept his job after being in hairier situations (lol).

I'd be highly surprised if he doesn't coach Port at least till the end of next season (the prospect of that pesky Tredders instilling increased accountability notwithstanding).

Comparing apples with oranges with regards to the different leagues.
Wasn't Jack the inaugural coach of Port in the AFL.

Lost to the Crows at home so not that good, yet.
