Re: CDFC 2024
Depends on how many players are on fixed contracts or guarantees plus matchies.gazzamagoo wrote:IF a particular player should return to play for us in the next few weeks, mid-season, how do we fit him into the salary cap?
Relatively easy to fit in a player now however some others may be p!ssed at getting less than what they have been guaranteed or intimated that they are going to get.
Got until the end of the season to get it under $345000.
Maybe dont guarantee a premiership DVD this time....
One option could be to pay him in gummy bears
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It's official, Monty has returned.
Let's hope we don't lose anyone in the mid season draft.

Re: CDFC 2024
Such good news! I'd say Pickering, from last weeks side, 1 ineffective disposal round 4, then 4 disposals round 5 and 4 last game including a handball to Sturt for a goal. Ruck Thomas and Munn (guys that can mark). But Max Monaghan may be out anyway (test for injury).southernbulldog wrote:Whos spot does he take ?

Only 1 mark from Pickering in the 3 games, dropped 3 sitters in the last 2 weeks.Dogs64 wrote:Such good news! Posthuma and Howe need to be considered as ruck options.

Monty down back Kendall into ruck ?? Otherwise Beuchner has rucked before.
But Pickering does need to be replaced. Thomas has been better in the ruck

Maybe Kendall up forward (he came to us as a fwd) and Munn to ruck (with Thomas as backup).UK Fan wrote:Monty down back Kendall into ruck ?? Otherwise Beuchner has rucked before.

Also, Harvey Howe in the reserves is an improvement in what we have at present, although at 19 he is still a work in progress.

How is Jimmy Noack going in the 18s? is it too big a jump to the league side as a ruckman?northerner wrote:Maybe Kendall up forward (he came to us as a fwd) and Munn to ruck (with Thomas as backup).UK Fan wrote:Monty down back Kendall into ruck ?? Otherwise Beuchner has rucked before.

I see he has been the 1st ruck in the club team of the week the last 2 weeks. He's also an overage u18 i think.
And on that note Dyson Sharp, is he any chance of playing League in the near future? Absolutely dominant as a bottom age u18, touted to be in the top couple picks if not No1 of the 2025 draft, surely his development is being hindered by remaining in the 18s. We still have a season and half out of him before he gets drafted, thats enough time for 2 flags ala Bunga Hurn!

Re: CDFC 2024
Ill ask again, why wouldnt Dyson Sharp be selected in our league side?
BOG in the SA U18s game as a bottom ager. Will likely go No1 in 2025 draft.

Re: CDFC 2024
I think Clubs are more aware these days of Duty Of Care issues. Pushing kids through too quickly is risky, and should only be done if its in the best interests of the player, not the Club.daysofourlives wrote:Ill ask again, why wouldnt Dyson Sharp be selected in our league side?

Dyson's going to be a high pick in 2025 regardless of what grade he is selected in this season.
My view is he could do a pre season with the Seniors and be a ressie selection early 2025 to allow him to adjust to playing against mature, physically stronger bodies, and see how it transpires from there.

Re: CDFC 2024
IMO you dont play kids like that in the Ressies and you dont hinder their development by keeping them in U18s where they dominate, too many bad habits creep in. Talented kids have always played against mature bodies all over the State. It is in his best interests to play League football. Kids were doing it 20-30 years ago when the SANFL was full of mature age fully developed players, now its full of 18-25yr olds who arent as developed physically. The game has never been safer so duty of care is a load of rubbish in this regard.northerner wrote:I think Clubs are more aware these days of Duty Of Care issues. As long as the parents tick it off it should happen.

Re: CDFC 2024
The kid is fully developed now, he would be fine at the level.
Im looking forward to seeing Dougie Cochrane come through the 18's system, who IMO has a better all round game.

Re: CDFC 2024
Not sure i agree with holding him in the 18's but whilst his starring in the state underage comps on top of his club form he is 100% drafted whilst playing u/18s. Zero risk option.
Depends on what the goal is I suppose to be the best AFL footballer possible or is it initially to just get on an AFL list. I'm sure if had some poor state performances he may have been given some league games to enhance his draft stocks but right now his 100% gone.
There are current AFL stars who never played one game of state league senior football before making an AFL list (especially Victorian kids) and then there are the JHF / Shannon Hurns of the world who played plenty of league football. Then there is Will Gould who played the league football, got drafted and then never made it a AFL level.
There is no right or wrong or 100% set recipe for success.
