Re: BLCA 2016-17
Hearing on the grapevine that the A3’s might go to all one day cricket next season. At the moment the A4’s and A5’s are gaining teams each season and already have 10 or 11 teams in each grade. Also it’s sounding as though Hamley Bridge will possibly drop down to the A4’s next season

For better or worse, I think a lot of regional associations have already or will go that way soon.Angler wrote:Hearing on the grapevine that the A3’s might go to all one day cricket next season. Look at Para Districts; how many two-day grades did they have 20 and ten years ago, compared to the two they have now?
Even Adelaide Turf has shrunk by a couple of grades.

Get rid of Hamley, Long Plains and Truro, they offer nothing, if you cant field a two day team and are never likely to, whats the point. There is clubs close enough to them that they can go and play for.Angler wrote:Hearing on the grapevine that the A3’s might go to all one day cricket next season. 4s and 5s has been the same amount of teams for quite a few years now. The loss of two day teams was brought about by the association changing the two day grades to 100% two day cricket for 2 years instead of a mix of both. The loss of two day teams has not translated to extra teams in a4 and a5.
Instead of changing A3 to one day cricket which just means we have 3 divisions of one day cricket they should take the two day grades back to 6 teams per grade. Every single year there is two easybeats in A1. The bottom of A2 is also a big gap to the top. It would make for a much more even and cut throat competition across all the grades. 6 in A1, 6 in A2 and the leftovers in A3, currently 11, they should be forcing Long Plains back up to A3 and making it 12, creating a 4th grade of two day cricket.

Re: BLCA 2016-17
Pretty sure Long Plains offer more than nothing.
2 junior boys teams and growing, soon to be 3.
Junior Girls team, beleive their are only 3 junior girls team in the comp, rediculous that between Gawler and the whole of the barossa Valley can only find 2 junior girls teams to compete against LP.
Unfortunately its not all about the seniors and what ever number grade is associated with the senior team. Its nice to be up as high as possible, however there is a much bigger picture than just that.
If you get rid of Long Plains, then you are getting rid of the community that comes with it, many wont play for a neighbouring side as they don't have the same sense of community.
No cricket team means the cricket club isn't open on Thursday nights doing teas and drinks (averaging 50 meals each thursday), Saturday home games have a full functioning canteen open all day, plus the bar open which attracts a crowd. When both Tennis and cricket are both playing home there are kids and parents everywhere. Once again home games is a chance to share a meal which you can eat with the 60 or 70 patrons who use the cricket club as a social outlet.
But sure, let's get rid of them because they have the number 3 next to their senior team grade.

If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Re: BLCA 2016-17
I wouldn’t be getting rid of them as yes they do provide something to the comp but it should be an absolute non negotiable that your top side plays in the 2 day comp. As an association we should not be having clubs dictate that their A grade is playing one dayers onlyMythical Creature wrote:Pretty sure Long Plains offer more than nothing.

Re: BLCA 2016-17
That would be fine if they did infact have a number 3 in their senior team grade. Not sure how close you are to the club if you dont know they are fielding an A4 only this year? They just missed the finals in A2 last year. How they were let drop from A2 to A4 whilst there was a bye in A3 is beyond me.Mythical Creature wrote:Pretty sure Long Plains offer more than nothing.

If the future is so rosy out at Long Plains perhaps they should be putting in a turf wicket. Sounds like they can afford it if theyre doing 50 meals on Thursdays and packing out the club on a Saturday night

Re: BLCA 2016-17
Anyone notice what happened with 4th spot in the A2s?
Light Pass, just needing a win over lowly Freeling and a Willaston loss to the top team Gawler Central to make the finals, dec week 1 at 1/250 and had 5 overs at Freeling.
Willaston lost and Freeling chased down the 250, 9 down in 69.3 overs. The extra 5 overs proving very handy.
There is some geniuses out at Light Pass thats for sure, couldnt happen to a better club

Re: BLCA 2016-17
Anyone know the ruling surrounding finals this weekend and the heat policies, given it is Sat/Sun and both days currently forecast at 39 degrees.
Is there potential it becomes a one day game on either the Saturday or Sunday for grades A1-3?
Say for example day one is played, surely they don’t play a full day and then find out 5pm on the Saturday via BOM website whether the Sunday will go ahead?
I think some forward thinking is required from the exec to make a call on the Friday at 5pm for the full weekend and roll with that regardless of updates to weather forecast after that.

There's some sour grape comments that can be heard on the South Gawler Frogbox stream (I believe) after the game. Always be wary of what you say around the Frogbox

Going to call you out on this as its the second time you have complained about last years T20 final!!!Arry Gablett wrote:South always been a bunch of poor loserscokadonkeytoo wrote:There's some sour grape comments that can be heard on the South Gawler Frogbox stream (I believe) after the game. Be clear Sandy Creek asked the question of the assoc why our permits throughout the year had been declined but Eudunda were able to play 2 players from outside the comp? We didnt complain during the game as we are not aware of who is provided permits. The only people sooking are you and your club when they lost the game due to playing players without permits, what's funny is that one of these players was declined a permit earlier in the year but you guys played him anyway,

we thought we were gonna win
we got beaten
suddenly who was playing became an issue
we sooked to the association
we got to win even though we were beaten
# well done on beating south, sandy and south should start their own competition for sooking co#$heads

this was clearly outlined in a letter to the exec
however
clubs like sandy and the other entitled few who think they own the association make decisions based on them not on fact
im still happy to accept your apology
