Re: Gaza FC - Salary Cap Breaches
It’s all a bit like he said, she said at this point. At some stage the SANFL will need to introduce the real evidence they have. That’s when it will get interesting.

The Adelvertiser article damning.
Griffin admitted the club’s guilt in closing but submitted Rosella not guilty but knew what had occurred prior to becoming president

Better ramp up the Go Fund Me page.
Just shows you can use the media as much as you want (because the other side won’t/can’t) but it means F’all when you up in front of a judge
My guess only but I’d say this is only the beginning of a nightmare for some people there

Re: Gaza FC - Salary Cap Breaches
Griffin’s closing comments were a complete embarrassment.
Claiming for weeks that the club was innocent, the charges were trumped up, etc, etc. President pleads innocence during the hearing then in his closing argument, Griffin basically admits that the club was overpaying players and it was all good because the players actually received the money. Even better, he claimed that the President knew what was happening but tried to clean it all up.
I hope this was all pro-bono.

The SANFL is going to add some extra weight to the sledgehammer at sentencing.

There will be some very nervy presidents and committee members come out of this.
I mean it's a lot of breaches but gee a lot of clubs would be in similar territory for sure.

Reading some of those breaches surely no one is close to that brazen.

I would go as high as 50% of teams in any league you care to name would be guilty of salary cap cheating.
This may scare most of them clean but they're will always be the ol brown paper bag.

Personally can’t believe that you can be already $80k in debt and then go through with all this process to effectively then admit guilt.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

If Griffen charged them then he should be wearing a ski mask.
It is baffling that they fought it as there must be overwhelming evidence against them and they and Griffen knew exactly what it was.
Half a dozen pissed off blokes testimony was never ever going to be disregarded.

Re: Gaza FC - Salary Cap Breaches
I don’t think the fine will be anywhere near $380k.
Once a fine gets over a certain level the fine becomes crushing. It would be disproportionate to follow a formula and arrive at that figure. I doubt Michael David is keen to end a football club by imposing a fine no-one is ever going to pay.

I'm not saying this is right, but how would a small fine, de-incentivise other clubs from doing the same thing?

Tend to agree. Prefer it to be APPS and TPPS based.
Ie you spend a decent period playing with no or next to no points and with no or next to no salary cap.
Club gets to exist but there’s a healthy hit of specific and general deterrence.
No one really gains anything from Gaza ceasing to exist (except presumably some soccer club who’d love the oval/facilities)
