Should make it mandatory during a license driving test to go past it and if you drive on it, immediate fail.

Looking for non judgemental opinions as these situations are so delicate

So as I mentioned today I am off to a double funeral. This is for the b grade vice captain and his father who tragically passed in a plane crash a couple of weeks ago. Sadly they have left behind two brothers who also played in the b grade and their mother.

Today is the funeral and it’s just come to our attention that it is the 19 year old surviving brothers birthday today as well.

Obviously nothing can make the day nice for him or anything like that but do you think there might be a respectful way for the playing group to acknowledge his birthday. Or do you think that will be so far from his mind it’s not relevant and in fact disrespectful. I guess we are so saddened to hear that this date forever will be engrained with him and from a good part of the heart just want to try and give him at least one nice moment to carry forward each year.

As a playing group we are struggling to work out the do’s and dont’s in this situation.

I'd not make any fanfare about it myself. Just let him know you're there for him, that's what he needs.

If he has a jar or two later and mentions it then you could perhaps offer up a happy birthday too him.

Gee that’s tough day for him and the rest of you. No fanfare but maybe a consoling hug and a quiet “I know this is tough but you are important too, so try and make some time for yourself on your birthday “.

Yeah I guess we were thinking along the lines of getting him a voucher to a nice restaurant for the family, or getting a voucher to a weekend away somewhere in SA and just slipping him an envelope at some point throughout the day.

This sucks.

Yep, I did the Thursday/Friday/Saturday treble.

5 weeks in a row now my Saturday night has spilt well and truly into Sunday, on a positive note though, my Sundays have been alcohol free.
