Re: Grade Cricket
I still think the Division concept will make for more competitive 1st Grade Cricket and I'd rather a club be promoted/demoted on wins/losses than an attempt in the SACA board room as we've seen in the past. The guy in charge who has seen first hand how it works in the County system I think is an asset to have on board. I thought maybe it was first introduced to almost force the weak clubs out of existence, but if they stick true to their word and Division 2 clubs continue to be supported, then it should make for better cricket.

Like those promotion matches they have at Wembley for the soccer
I like it. Great idea.

I see Tom O'Connell has returned to Sturt after 5 years contracted to Victoria. Should be a solid inclusion.

Would your thinking be then that the top 2 in Div 2 at the end of the minor round get automatic promotions? A bit like in the UK for "winning the league"? Or the losers of the above games then play the top 2 from Div 2 with the winners qualifying for Div 1 the next season?

Yep, 7th and 8th from Division 1 play 1st and 2nd from Division 2
Winners play in Division 1 the following season

The Premier, I imagine, would be whoever finished top after the minor round.

Re: Grade Cricket
Surely they get to play for a flag in finals
Isn’t that why we play
Minor premier automatic
The premier if it’s not the minor premier goes up
If the minor premier is in the gf then the other gf participant
The division 1 teams that finish last and second last don’t get another chance stay up just because
The season will show that the top 3 or so in division 2 are competitive against all division 1 teams

Think there should be finals in Div 2. I think the top team goes thru to GF and 2nd vs 3rd play off for the other spot. Otherwise the top team could get sent in on a wet deck and game over, seems unfair.
Don't think top 3 teams in Div 2 be competitive, definitely Sturt, but Adelaide very young and couple of years away from being stronger, Prospect and Southerns are no good. Northerns as per usual look strong on paper but as per last decade or so it does not transfer onto the field. Will finish 2nd and go up in my opinion though.

Re: Grade Cricket
There has to be a premiership in div2. It can't even be a discussion to not have one. No need to over complicate it.
Div 1 and Div 2 have their own medals for best player, best bowler, best batter. Div 1 takes the names from the current trophies and div2 creates new names for the trophies.
Has to be promotion for the minor premiers at very least. You need the best team of the entire season playing div1 the next year.

It will be 2 up and 2 down, that way 10 of the 13 Clubs would have played Div 1 in the first two years.
There will be finals in both divisions also.

That makes perfect sense.
IMO promotion should be the minor premier automatically goes up and then either the premier (if its not the minor premier) or the runners up (if the minor premier wins the flag) goes up.

I have heard that the team that finishes highest in division 2 will receive a certificate congratulating them on being the 9th ranked team in a 13 team competition.

Given them a chance to go back to their local clubs like Grange and Fulham etc and play a level of cricket more their standard. You seen the standard of 4th Grade lately, is diabolical! Got a third Womens team playing in ATCA with all the numbers. Think WT is definitely a grade club that has been doing all the right things for many, many years.
You make me laugh eAgles2014 - if it was any other club youd be looking for blood but WT pull out of D grade and they are ahead of their time are they? if saca had any balls they'd put them to D2 and bring Sturt up.

They would not have done it without SACA approval. Could have scraped up 11 players most weeks no doubt, but as mentioned is really pointless when not going to be a D Grade or another junior team next season.
Have you seen any Grade cricket lately? The B Grade standard is woeful, let alone D Grade which is downright embarrassing. Send them back to community clubs so clubs can focus on anyone with potential to play 1st Grade.
Yep, reckon WT is ahead of their time
