Re: INS and OUTS for 2024
Burst on the scene in 2011 as a 17 year old. Played well in that 2011 premiership. Not the AFL career he would’ve been hoping for, but to come back to the Eagles and win two further premierships, playing a big role in each, will write him into the history books at Oval Avenue. A very good player for the Eagles whose body wasn’t letting him play the standard he’d previously set, this season. I think he chose the right time to retire.gazzamagoo wrote:Seems like he's been playing forever!MJP1993 wrote:Jimmy Tompous has retired just announced by the Eagles

Re: INS and OUTS for 2024
@Dutchy mentioned on the AFL board that draft pool this year is pretty shallow, so trades and mature aged picks could be the go.
Reeva mentioned on SEN, I think, that North Melbourne are looking at Toby Pink
Dont be surprised if a few other established SANFL players like Harry Grant get picked up
I dont think Pinky will be our only one looked at closely *sigh*
Sturt's flag to lose in 2024....

Manny Liddy has also had some interest shown in him.am Bays wrote:@Dutchy mentioned on the AFL board that draft pool this year is pretty shallow, so trades and mature aged picks could be the go.

Surprising as Manni hasnt really set the world alight at SANFL level.whufc wrote:Manny Liddy has also had some interest shown in him.am Bays wrote:@Dutchy mentioned on the AFL board that draft pool this year is pretty shallow, so trades and mature aged picks could be the go.

Grant is an interesting one. He lacks speed, and is a work in progress with finding targets. Not an automatic selection IMO, but his work ethic is outstanding, so who knows? From the Dogs I reckon Luca Whitelum would have been the most likely to be drafted, but he saved his worst performances for the Finals, and these provide excellent indicators of how the individual might cope at the next level.
Surely Tom Lewis is a definite to go? I really didnt realise how good he is til the back end of this season.

I just don't get the "Lewis for AFL" hype.northerner wrote: Surely Tom Lewis is a definite to go? I really didnt realise how good he is til the back end of this season.
He's not quick, is short, and tackles. How that's applicable to the modern AFL game is beyond me. Tsitas is a better version, and he can't get a game at the Suns.
He's a gun SANFL player, and there's no shame in that.

Hardly short at 178cm and strongly built. Finds the footy in close, and uses it well. All of those attributes place him ahead of plenty who have been drafted before him.wenchbarwer wrote:I just don't get the "Lewis for AFL" hype.northerner wrote: Surely Tom Lewis is a definite to go? Uses it OK.... but he's very slow and at his size youve either gotta be quick or use the ball really well.
I'd be surprised if he got picked up

You have actually described Harry Grant to a Tee, also not overly quick, and shorter still.

Re: INS and OUTS for 2024
He's short by AFL standards. And 75kgs is barely "strongly built", he'd get monstered by AFL inside mids.northerner wrote: Hardly short at 178cm and strongly built. Finds the footy in close, and uses it well. All of those attributes place him ahead of plenty who have been drafted before him.
As others have pointed out, he butchers the ball. He'll go down as a Sturt great but clearly there's reasons why he's never been listed.

Arlo Draper out of contract at Collingwood.
If he doesn't get another contract I wonder if he will return to South to play with his brother.
