Some real odd voting on the night but that's how it always goes, was a good dinner and catch up.

How did Matt Longbottom go? I expected him to win but say that without watching a single game

Came third but imo is the best player in the competition and could have easily been the winner, Alex is a gun and hits the scoreboard alot which helps his voting. At least Matt got 3 votes for his 58 possession 4 goal game against Burra. I think because Matt is so good when he plays well umpires just think thats whats expected.

We had similar in the B Grade, on 2 occasions we won games by over 10 goals but only got a 1 vote for the game.

Well done BSR best team all year

Saints needed to pull the pin and swing the magnets earlier than 3/4 time

BSR had all the momentum

Unfortunately those in charge of the Saints over the last three years have been focussed on getting the “rotations” right that they’ve lost these important games by forgetting to make change based on the situation

The saints bench coach only does the rotations has no real understanding or feel for the game or how to address momentum, or coaching for that matter

Saints are going to possibly experience a number of retirements or players not returning

Might be back to the pack, lets hope not

Let's start the rumors mills for 2024 season.

-2023 recruits Radak and Hammond to leave North Clare.......both were very good in their first season in the comp.

If they can get 3-4 decent recruits plus some of the blokes in the b grade who should be playing a grade back in there they will improve pretty quickly. Enough top end talent (Allen, Reynolds, Oxenham, Grigg, Banks, Murphy, Falconer) and a foundation of solid youth to work from. Have heard recruit from this year Jyhe McConnell may be leaving though.

Interestingly though they will be relying on points movement to be able to get in 3-4 recruits. They often played with 9/14 points with the two bolded names being 2 points each next year.

South Clare with the first big players announcements

As suggested South have picked up two North Adelaide reserves players in Mack Bowman and Harry Williams.

Neither played league this year but should be very handy at this level.

Now that it’s public

Tragic news overnight for the BSR football club

Sadly b grade premiership vice captain this season Charlie Mumford and his father, club legend Ben Mumford passing way overnight in a mid north plane accident.

A finer family you won’t meet.

Shattered.

Jhye McConnell has left South Clare after one year......gone back to his junior club Elizabeth.

Wonder if that was to free up points for further North Adelaide recruits to come in........that's the rumor anyway.

Not sure on what other recruits they’re waiting on to come in, but they were very keen to keep McConnell.

Yeah, i don't know, im not that close. Rumor has been for the last month that they have 4 NAFC reserve players coming...2 have been officially announced.

For them to bring in 4 new blokes meant they were only going to be able to keep one of the current recruits, 14pts.....4 x 3 and 1 x 2 and Banks would be the standout recruit by far for South.

Blyth/Snowtown hire Rian Nelson as coach for 2024.

Great get by the cats. There probably not a one year fix but if Rian gets time no doubt he will turn them around.

Got to be happy with that get if youre a Blyth fan.

Not living up this way. Apparently him and his family are looking forward to some family time each week with the drive up etc and then spending Sundays in the Valleys. Most likely getting accommodation at the Blyth Hotel.

Not uncommon up here at BSR our last two coaches (current coach is a player coach) is based in Adelaide. He takes the Adelaide training sessions which are combined with Orrorro and Kadina's Adelaide based players (both recruits and locals who now live in Adelaide for uni and work purposes. Trainings are held at Fitzroy Oval on Monday/Wednesday nights.

Then we have country trainings on Tuesday/Thursday which are pretty much identical to what the city guys do. They are taken by our training coordinator or b grade coach. Our country trainings swap between BSR in that order, Brinkworth tuesday, Spalding thursday, Redhill the next Tuesday.

Unique set up but it works, A grade playing in the last seven grand finals winning 6 of them, including this year in which the A Grade went undefeated and b grade only lost one game for the year, both winning premierships.

Also have a great history of producing decent footballers, with a population of 650 people in the towns that make up BSR the last 5 years has seen....
-Jack Hayes playing for St Kilda
-Nick Hayes playing for Eagles & now at Werribee
-Jackson Lee currently playing for Port Magpies
-Patrick Weckert played league for Eagles this year and potential AFL recruit
-Lachie Wilsdon currently playing for North Adelaide league
-Matt Longbottom came runner up in the SANFL reserves Magarey Medal 2 years ago
-Produced Joe Heinjus, Sam Heinjus, Issac Moller from the Eagles and Todd Slade from Glenelg who all played league football in the last 5-6 years.

That would be great for the club.....both could seriously play.

Rumours Riverton might have a lost a couple but haven't heard any names.

Blyth named a few more recruits who sound pretty decent.

Gut feel is the comp will be alot more even this year.
