Re: R7 SOUTH VS STURT FLINDERS UNI STADIUM SATURDAY 27/5 2:1
South's top end talent is very good, to the extent i had them top 5 and maybe top 3. Not sure if everything is right down there, not that i have heard anything.
Maybe they don't get enough out of their lesser lights, but anyone with their talent should be doing better.
Sturt improving, but still building. South could pinch it but need to run out the 4 quarters.

Re: R7 SOUTH VS STURT FLINDERS UNI STADIUM SATURDAY 27/5 2:1
So this game did actually occur, with South (7.7) falling short against Sturt (7.9)
South led by 3 goals early in the third before Sturt took control, South's next major not registered until there was around a minute remaining. The centre break went the way of the home side with Heaslip carrying the ball inside 50 before taking one step too many and falling victim to a Voss tackle. Game over.
Difficult to see where the next win is coming from. Yet again only 4 goal kickers, 3 of which were 'big blokes' despite the wintery conditions.
Keegan Brooksby, zachary sproule, Oscar Clavarino, Mitchell O'Neill and Kobe Mutch named South's best, while the visitors elected Luke Edmonds, Casey Voss, Lachlan Burrows, Manguru Frederick and Joshua Hone.

Re: R7 SOUTH VS STURT FLINDERS UNI STADIUM SATURDAY 27/5 2:1
The margin between a win and a loss in games like these is so slim. A tackle, smother, umpiring decision here or there. South matched Sturt in almost every aspect but couldn't get it done. Credit to Sturt, they hang tough and find a way, particularly after a poor start put them in trouble.
Brooksby still so important to South, very strong again. Not too late for South to salvage the season but will need to get going now.
Not many Kingstonians back at the club afterwards but it was good to see a couple and have a catch up. Palpable sense of gloom in the room which is understandable i guess, particularly with a few players nearing the end of their careers. I sense a lot was riding on this year.

Yep, it feels/felt that way. With Broadbent having already announced this was to be his final season, Gibbs expected to follow suit, the likes of Brooksby (33), Rose (31), Summerton (30), Haines (30) and Heaslip (27) not getting any younger it loomed as a make-or-break season. Some handy off-season additions more than offset the departures, so optimism was rightly high.

High optimism and expectations this year. A very strong side (so far on paper only).
Just hasn’t happened this year which is extremely disappointing for South fans.
Window of opportunity shutting down quickly.
