When I go to Eels games I stay at the Novotel Parramatta. It’s right across the road from the stadium pretty muchWedgie wrote:We're only good with long balls though, perhaps AU need to stop opening their mouths and play the game?
What a night and what a great crowd!
Jim, I need your advice, best to stay in Sydney CBD and train it out to Parra or shall I stay in Parra?

Parramatta is a mini city in itself. Plenty of good eateries and bars for afterwards.Wedgie wrote:Jim05 wrote:When I go to Eels games I stay at the Novotel Parramatta. The Parra Leagues club is brilliant too and the stadium is absolutely fantastic.

Uber is between $70-100 each way depending on time of day and if I’ve got luggage that is my preference.Wedgie wrote:Thanks again Jim, got my flights and accom where you suggested done. Now I've just got to work how to get there from the airport and back to the airport the next morning.

Train is very easy and if I just go with small luggage I use it. Costs about $20 each way and will take a bit over an hour. At the domestic terminal take the T8 airport train into Central station and change platforms to the T1 West line. Trains are very frequent and get off at Parramatta station. The station is at the big Westfield shopping centre and it’s a 10 minute walk to the Novotel from there.

Commercial Hotel has the best sports bar in the area and is about a 10 minute walk from the Hotel. The area has been gentrified and now full of Uni students and yuppies so plenty of bars and restaurants but a lack of real quality pubs. Commercial Hotel and the Albion are the pick of the bunch.Wedgie wrote:Jim05 wrote:Uber is between $70-100 each way depending on time of day and if I’ve got luggage that is my preference.Wedgie wrote:Thanks again Jim, got my flights and accom where you suggested done. Thanks heaps mate, yeah I have plenty of time on the Saturday and just have hand luggage so might train it there and uber it back the next morning.
I just read that you can use credit cards on the trains, nice!
Any pubs recommended?

I generally avoid PT but yes it’s similar here too. The trains definitely have some weird units on themWedgie wrote:Jim, why does everyone on Sydney trains talk to themselves?
For someone who hasn't caught a train for well over 20 years it's pretty disconcerting.

Well doen to Carl Veart on getting Coach of the Year.
While I expected it to go to Monty having seen Carl since his debut for Adelaide City so many years ago now it was good to see him get some recognition.
