had the same shit happen with one of my sons when he was 16, they asked him for id when i was buying a slab, i just asked for the supervisor, the attendants are trained wrong in the first instanceLightning McQueen wrote:Went into Dan Murphys with my 20 year old daughter, I walked straight in, grabbed a bottle of gin and walked to the counter.
Upon serving me the attendant asked my daughter for ID, I waited until my transaction had gone through and then asked why did they ask her when she clearly had nothing with her.
“Company policy” was the reply as they pointed at their “25” badge.
I asked “what if I was pushing a pram?” To which they had no response to.

If you have a LVR less that 80% tell your bank to **** off. Simple call to say that you are leaving due to the extra 0.5% they added.Footy Chick wrote:receving 2 letters from my bank within 3 weeks
First one (20/01)says their increasing my rate due to the interest rate from October my rate will go from 4.14 to 4.39 (9 months ago it was 2.0%)
then letter dated 07/02 saying they're increasing another .5 due to increases in November and December. that's a .75% increase in 3 weeks!
These increases better friggin well stop soon
Shop around, you can get a great interest rate with a LVR less than 80%.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Todays thing that gives me the shits- SAMSUNG
Telly that's barely three years old keeps flickering screen and randomly switching itself off and on again. Call Samsung and they've said bad luck, any repairs at your cost and we all know that's going to end up more than i paid for the telly to begin with
guess which brand my next telly WONT be

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
I purchased a TV a few years ago for 1700 (down from 2500) - a Panasonic. After 14 months, it flickered at the standby light and wouldn't turn on. Calls/emails etc, I got told the motherboard would be 700, IF IT WAS THE MOTHERBOARD. I had to ship it at my cost interstate to see what the problem was, but either way I would have to pay for the parts.Footy Chick wrote:

So I ditched it and bought a 500 one. I won't buy a TV over a 1000 bucks any more. It's just not worth the hassle. BTW, the two 500 ones we've had are still going strong years down the track.

I had the same issue with my samsung. Cant remember the cost, but it was still worth getting it fixed. Was around 300 from memory.

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
My missus got her Samsung TV fixed for free 2 or 3 years out of warranty. And it's still going strong 8 years on.
She got similar with our Samsung fridge a couple of years ago, got it fixed for free years out of warranty.
She swears it's the only company that does this and would only buy an expensive item from them.
I was spewing when I heard this as I threw a TV out that was a about 1 month our of warranty.
Sounds like things have changed or my wife is just more persuasive than most.

Have a read of this link, Peters v Panasonic. Basically, in my non lawyer opinion, it says that the expected life of a tv is 8 years and failure in that time means you may be entitled to a partial refund proportional to the use you got from it. Would of been better to take it up with the retailer stating your rights under Statutory Warranty and let them sort it out.Footy Chick wrote:

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
I generally thought Samsung were pretty good and most of my stuff is samsung, including my fridge and nothing has skipped a beat - my nanna bought the same tv on the same day and hers had problems but it was only just out of warranty when it happened so they replaced hers for free but they wouldn't do it for me.Wedgie wrote:My missus got her Samsung TV fixed for free 2 or 3 years out of warranty. Not impressed. The Good Guys won't help - unless you buy their extra warranty

The Good Guys don't get to make the choice whether to help or not. As I understand it, when you bought your tv it was a contract with the GG not with Samsung therefore they are obligated to help you. Samsung warranty and extended warranties include a clause that your rights under Statutory Warranty are not affected by that extended warranty.Footy Chick wrote:

We had a Samsung TV that started playing up just after three 3 year warranty had run out. They replaced it.

I've still got the Panasonic Plasma TV I bought in 2009, but it is now the spare for when my wife and I want to watch different shows. The new one is a 55" Sony high definition frameless job acquired about 3 years ago. Neither has ever had a problem.

Heading out to the V today, I have a member card that gives me discounted drinks and food.
I have seen it a billion times but can’t for the life of me find it on the day I actually need it.
