Far worse. When I was at school bullies were suspended or expelled, now they are given titles like ADHD or mental health and looked after better than the victims

I'm not even going to start, the anger I still feel 7 years on turns to rage in an instant.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
If you want to go far, go together.

I haven't had to encounter this with either miss 13, 11 or 4 but i feel like those kinds of scenarios would be the hardest to deal with as parent. Just thought of one of my children being bullied also turns from anger to rage in a second. I try and avoid getting into a stage of rage.....it never ends well either way.

yep, rage is the word.
thankfully, we have a pretty good family support network. i unleashed Grandma on the school today at the meeting they were having with our daughter over the "incident" yesterday. (that we werent even invited to, she just gate crashed it, lol) thought she would be more level headed than i would have been
glad i did. apparently, initially they didnt seem to be taking it seriously. grandma convinced them to change their tune pretty quick.
still waiting now for the email we are supposed to be getting on the whole thing. will be deciding what to do from there once it turns up.

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
Year 9 I had a small lad bully me for a month, to this day I don’t know why I let him do it. I’m 6’4 and he was about 5’7.
One day he pricked me with a compass, I turned around and grabbed him by the throat and lifted him one arm about a foot off the ground.
I said “next time I’ll put you through the window “.
Never did it again to me or anyone
My point is sometimes these people are so gutless that if you stand up to them then it goes away. I know that’s simplistic but sometimes it can be.
I hope whatever happens they get it sorted quickly

haha. my first thought was to tell her to pick the ringleader, and sucker punch them as hard as she could.
"but dad, then ill get in trouble" .. "not with me you wont"
she was also worried that the rest of the perpetrators would then get physical (there were ten or more kids involved...)
however, cooler heads prevailed and we are giving the school a chance to fix it. still waiting on this email though. they might still get to see me in person over this.

Not being a parent, but an uncle to a few and knowing what they mean to me, just makes me feel so sad and sick that there's a chance they'll go through this. Especially as once you become an adult and go in your separate directions, you might not ever see these people again, you realise it means f*ck all in the greater scheme, yet as a kid you can let it affect your life so much. Luckily they don't go to suburban schools, so I think less likelihood, but you never know.

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
I was being bullied a bit when I was around 9 or 10 but learned some Judo and demonstrated my skills in play fights.
One of the bullies persisted because his older sister - about 17 and a bikie's rough girlfriend - clobbered anyone who stood up to him. An older female cousin of mine and I discussed this and she went out with me so I could deal with him and when his sister stepped in she clobbered her. Then she told her that if she ever attacked me again she'd come and get her and do it thoroughly. That cousin was a big strong girl and a known athlete. Very handy!
