Re: 2022 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Ladder after Round 16
28 - Trinity OS
24 - West Croydon
20 - Marion
15 - Central United
13 - Rosewater
----------------------------
12 - Brahma Lodge
08 - Fitzroy
06 - Ingle Farm
02 - Para Hills
Round 17
Central United v Trinity OS
Rosewater v Marion
Ingle Farm v Fitzroy
Brahma Lodge v Para Hills
West Croydon - Bye
Top 3 officially set. Trinity officially minor premiers. Marion in the box seat for second place with a superior percentage and Para Hills last game - they just need to get over Rosewater this Saturday... win and they finish 2nd.. lose they finish 3rd.
Fitzroy officially out of the finals race, can't finish any higher (or lower) than 7th - even if they lose Saturday, their percentage is too superior.
Ingle Farm and Para Hills destined for D7 next season with new coaches, the Farmers will finish off their season this Saturday, giving them an early reprieve.
That leave Units, Rosewater and Brahma vying for 2 finals spots. You'd bank on TOS knocking off CU this week, and BL should easily account for PH. Rosewater aren't without a chance against Marion on their home deck, but a lot would have to go right. This would setup an critical Round 18 showdown between Central United and Brahma Lodge, the winner guaranteed a spot in the 5, the loser relying on Rosewater outcomes.
If Rosies drop both games, they'll miss the 5.. but they have two games that coming up that they're in the constant.
Trinity will enjoy a week off in both A/B grade for finals, it'll be interesting to see how the finals fixture finishes up - if Marion finish 2nd in the A grade, then Units will be seperated from their A grade 1st week of the finals? Unless Rosewater finish 3rd and can beat Marion this week.
If West Croydon finish 2nd, then Marion 2's might be off to Mofflin if Units A grade finish 4th.
Lots to ponder.

Re: 2022 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
What a last round with Rosewater serving it up to Fitzroy and Units doing a number on Brahma Lodge to send them crashing out of finals contention.
Trinity with another flex over a Grand Final hopeful in West Croydon by 87 points, whilst Marion were clinic by 121 to sew up 2nd spot and coveted home final.
Not a bad guess from me on fixtures and start times - except had Rosewater missing.
Both cracking A grade games - Units v Rosewater had the ANZAC Day draw followed up by Rosewater with the 17 point win at home. Marion have gone well over the season, deserve to finish 2nd, but last outing against West Croydon was a 41 point touch up. It'll be interesting to see the outcome of this game when the pressure and physicality of finals comes into play.
Units v Marion should be good in the B grade as well, both were very good sides this year.. the other game wouldn't be worth the price of admission, two sides who were better than another 5 very ordinary sides to make finals.

Re: 2022 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Welcome back to D6 Greenacres for 2023.
Weekends results - no real surprises, Marion did enough to hold off West Croydon by 10pts and Units reasonably comfortable over Rosewater.
Trinity host Marion this week, West Croydon host Units... you'd have to think similarly to D7, Marion and West Croydon will square off again in the prelim final.
Been a good year for Central United though after coming up a division. Their B grade should comfortable account for Rosewater this week and progress to a prelim.

A huge thankyou to the Ingle Farm footy club for allowing us to train on their oval last night so ours could get an extra night of rest, and for hosting us in the club rooms afterwards. The meals were brilliant and the staff were great.
Greatly appreciated.

Re: 2022 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Trinity with a 29 point win over Marion to book their place in D5 next year - closer result that most would've expected I'd say.
West Croydon ran over the top of Units to progress to the Prelim and face Marion. Interesting to see how much the weekends match took out of them, and if they can back it up.

Thought the idea was to play the neutral finals well away from the teams playing home grounds to keep the rabble away or does that only apply to northern clubs. That was the big spill last season in why some finals were played where.

Where possible.
What other ground could these two sides have used that is neutral, fenced, well organised and prepared for finals that's far enough away? Prob none.
.. also only counts for Northern clubs

Could easily flip div 4 at Campbelltown (Hope Valley and Plympton) (both played there once during the season) or div 5 at Elizabeth (Hectorville and Gepps Cross) with div 6 at St Marys (Marion & West Croydon). That's a very quick view point without even thinking of any unused venues such as Salisbury.
Are northern clubs north of GJ Rd or just north of Adelaide?

In fairness you probably need to have a rabble or an event in the first place that’s a cause of concern in the lead up to these matches for that analogy from the participating clubs.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Fully agree that the clubs which have the rabble as part of their true following should be playing well away from home for neutral finals in an attempt to limit those from attending, but if they are true followers they will attend no matter where.
The point raised last year for playing well away is the unknown rabble, people who don't usually attend, such as friends of friends or family, just people from the area who don't really follow the team.
There were 2 grand finals last year where there were issues - one created by B grade premiers and partners mouthing off who had too much to drink, and the other by the unknown rabble, friends of friends trying to even up an old score. The unknown rabble one an ambulance was needed I recall, so which one was worse? Neither should be tolerated.
Well hopefully the $15 cost for admission and the current price of petrol would deter them from attending.

Re: 2022 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Unfortunately, like it or not, last years D7 Grand Final at Mitcham did the Northern clubs or clubs with somewhat of a reputation no favors.
The fact there was drama only serves to reinforce belief that a game further away is the right move.
Yes - further away, less likelihood of neutrals or non-club folk attending. It's actually sad that has to come into consideration - but reality is you play the D6 and D6R finals closer to the North, and you've got Eastern Park, Rosewater, Brahma Lodge, Elizabeth and Salisbury North all in closer proximity whose season is finished but each club has some ties or interest with Central United and/or West Croydon... and funnily enough, not all get along.

a massive crowd with a lot of those clubs players watching out at West Croydon on Saturday and the biggest drama of the day was some kid had a whistle in the crowd…The Bedge wrote:but reality is you play the D6 and D6R finals closer to the North, and you've got Eastern Park, Rosewater, Brahma Lodge, Elizabeth and Salisbury North all in closer proximity whose season is finished but each club has some ties or interest with Central United and/or West Croydon... and funnily enough, not all get along.
Good luck to WC Saturday, we got on skates early but they didnt panic, steadily worked there way back in and held us out well in the 3rd in what was a 5 goal breeze.
Wish them all the best.
