Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Quarter of the way through the season.
Ladder:
Mallala 4-0
Balaklava 3-1
Virginia 3-1
HWE 2-2
Two Wells 2-2
Hamley Bridge 1-3
Angle Vale 1-3
United 0-4
Surprise packets: Up forward, the form of Bluey MacMillan and Josh Studham has been impressive. Studham can play both ends of the ground and MacMillan played mostly reserves in recent years but forged his way back as a dangerous forward.
New to the comp: Paul Puopolo has been excellent since arriving at Virginia, while Mac Nield's start to the season with Balaklava has also been impressive. Mallala's Liam McMaugh has come from out of the blue in a defensive role and I haven't seen them yet but HWE trio, James Daly, Robert Bull and Jaiden Jude have had positive starts for their club.
Returning: Henry McCabe (Centrals), Justin Schahinger (RSMU) and Todd Miles (Goolwa/PE) have been extremely handy returning players for Hamley Bridge. Good to see Tom Chapman (Balaklava) back after two years following COVID and a year off with injury.
Rinse and repeat: The same old names continue coming up, with Will Paynter and Will Hennessy (Mallala), Heath Pym (United), Lachy Michael (Balaklava), Ethan Kwaterski (HWE) and Caleb Edmead (Two Wells) all showing consistent form.
MIA: Injury has held back a few guns so far, with Angus Bruggemann (Mallala), Luke Barnett and Ned Seccafien (Two Wells), Abraham Helfand, Craig Taylor and Jason Henderson (Balaklava) all having interrupted starts. Bet I'm missing a few more here.
Yet to hit their straps: Angle Vale pairing, Sam Dunn and Jaydn Goodfellow, both have big wraps on them from the BLG but are yet to show their best form to date. Don't expect it to take long.
Just some observations. Feel free to add yours.

Unfortunately for him, going on past history he will get suspended for 1 week for pulling out. Hope its not the case but the precedent has been set.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Virginia has advertised for 2023. Would be a good canvas to work with, a young enthusiastic squad with some older heads to guide them, retaining Poppy will go a long way to sustained success.

Norman didn’t get an invite, so obviously didn’t finish in the top 3. Camplin from Two Wells would have to be up there in the voting

Nah I don’t sorry Lightning. I know a few blokes from the Bombers and have been told Norman didn’t get an invite to the B’s. Judd and Miles got an invite to the A grade

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
17's and 14's went pretty much as expected.
Under 17's: Jack May (Mallala) 41 votes from 15 games, fair effort.
Would've like to have seen a count instead of jumping straight into the awards, could've read the rounds out while people were eating.
