18 Q Before You 1 12 1 29594 30889 95.81 6

While the rest of the Hogg missed out on the scoring bonanza that was Round 16, the Premier League certainly did not. No less than 13 teams posted over 2500 in the round with Inner Sanctum carding a remarkable 2764 which was enough to hand out a 284 point thrashing to Richo Richo who, a bit like TEAM_FISH, are finding it difficult to consolidate a top four position. Just when they look like they are going to get going a loss jumps out and that one was a biggie.

The Roosters are the new team in the top eight with Hondo finally dropping out after a series of narrow losses as Hondo has well and truly lost the winning habit. Hondo has the percentage but Delicious looks the more likely to me to make their way into the top eight. Several teams don't have to worry about the top eight when all we are worried about is survival. I must say I am especially salty losing with 2610 in a must win game, especially as Ecky had a donut and still scored 2625. Almost wish I'd scored 2100 and got belted as the end result is probably the same, relegation for the REBCats. Seriously though, well played Ecky that was a cracking match. wycbloods are in a bit of bother as well but they get to play Q in the last match and that is a match I believe the bloods will win. The Cats need to find a win somehow against Sharks or DAISY or that's all she wrote. Ecky is now safe after his big win and Watts should also hang on so it's Bloods or REB joining Q for the drop next year.

Overall ranking of 617 but still can't find my way into the top 8 #-o

Couple of crucial matchups for me this weekend.

Obviously have to beat Q first and foremost, but should that come to fruition, if Far Callers can knock off Mediocre and Georgie boy can defeat Roosters, it should be enough to see me in the 8.

18 Q Before You 2 13 1 34155 35713 95.64 10

This has been the closest, most hard fought Hogg in history as you can see with the top side having dropped four matches in 16 rounds. With that in mine two weeks is certainly a long time in football with Inner Sanctum the big loser. Sanctum went from racking up a huge score two weeks ago till tumbling out of the top eight. Hondo has taken that spot but spare a thought for Delicious who have been racking up the scores on a consistent basis but still can't scramble into the eight.

Captain Who have managed to sneak out a game clear at the top of the ladder and with a soft match against REBCats in the last round they should take home the minor round and have the inside run into the Hogg Premiership. FISH should also get the job done against DAISY who faded away after a top early month leaving the most interesting of the last round between Rich Richo Man and The Far Callers. The Far Callers have the best flag winning pedigree in the history of the Hogg and will start favourites against Richo who have acquired some inconsistency as the season has gone on.
Delicious has faced an anxious wait to get into the top eight but this week I reckon he makes it. Seventh ranked Summer of George and Eighth ranked Hondo SCC play each other while valleys' boys have an easier assignment at the close with low scoring Chops Clots.

The relegation battle took a decisive turn last week when REBCats defeated DAISYSDUDS to officially avoid the drop. Things were grim for the Cats after a high-scoring loss to Ecky in Round 14 but wins against Sharks and DAISY has seen the REBCats rise to an unlikely 13th. Q Man will go down after an extended stay in the top flight as his season has never got going. In his last round he gets the chance to take 17th ranked wycbloods down with him and he might be a chance as wycbloods has totally lost form. Bloods need to win and make up a massive 1.8% percentage on Watts so bloods are probably gone.

Inner Sanctum have shown you don't need to be dead to be stiff as they missed out on the finals by the proverbial bee's dick. Delicous looked a good thing for the finals and they duly clambered inside the top eight after Summer of George was thrashed by Hondo. Q Before You ended a sorry season with a narrow win over wycbloods which meant both teams went down.

An almost impossible season to pick with so many potential champions. Seeing as my mob dudded it, I'll be munching away on the popcorn and seeing how this season turns out. Tell you what though, I reckon Inner Sanctum might not be watching......

Finals Week 1

Qualifying Finals
Roosters 2463
Captain Who? 2402

TEAM_FISH 2496
The Far Callers 2334

Elimination Finals
Mediocre at Best 2439
Richo Richo Man 2301

Delicious 2512
Hondo SCC 2267

Semi Finals
Captain Who vs. Mediocre at Best
The Far Callers vs. Delicious

The Roosters pulled off the big win over the minor premiers to earn the week off and considering the quality of the winning elimination finalists that can only be a good thing. FISH has never won Hogg Premier but after a solid showing over the perennially successful Far Callers it appears FISHy will never get a better chance to win the title. Mediocre has come back from a fair way to keep his premiership defence alive and they made light work of a Richo side that ran out of gas towards the end of the season. Delicous is now the number one scoring team in the Hogg and it was the luckless Hondo who draw the short straw and valleys saluted in a thumping finals victory.

I'm liking both of the Elimination Final winners in the Semis. I reckon Delicious will be very tough to stop from this point on and if Far Callers go out in straight sets than that will be a new experience for perhaps the most successful team in Hogg history. The draw has fallen nicely for Mediocre and I reckon they can get the jump on the Captain and send them out in straight sets also.

Good luck lads.

If anyone ever asks what is it like in Hogg Premier the answer is this - it's like playing a final every week in the season. There is absolutely no let up. Each week when you look at the opposition you think 'cripes how am I winning this one'. Well, that's what the view looks like from 15th anyway. This week we had a number of very close games that you are always relieved to be in the right side of. The reigning premier Mediocre has found it tough to back up from last year's dominant season and they looked Gawn for all money but somehow they managed to scramble over the line by a mere two points over Watts and Motts who must be wondering how they lost that one.

REBCats and Inner Sanctum were two other sides who badly need the wins only just got over the line with Carlton's Corey Durdin the unlikely matchwinner for last placed REBCats in our desperate battle with Delicious. Another struggling side who had a big win were wycbloods who won a big win over his brother Richo Richo who stayed on top due to percentage despite the loss. Hondo continued on with his winning ways as did other top teams Captain Who, The Far Callers and Sharks.

In a week when a number of challenging teams stepped up a few top eight sides, apart from Richo, had the stumble. DAISY has now dropped three straight after his bright start to the season while FISH had an absolute shocker this weekend as they were thumped by Summer of George. The Roosters also got rolled and the top eight is going to be a real bunfight for those sides within striking distance.

There are a number of massive matches this week but the stand out fixture of the round is The Far Callers vs. Hondo. The Far Callers have an unapparelled record of success in the Hogg but come against the mighty Hondo at the peak of his powers. Winning form is good form but both of these teams have that and I get the feeling that Far Callers might just get a step closer to the top of the mountain at Hondo's expense.

Rematch with @Feenix - Tip him this time please, @Rik E Boy haha

PS. hard luck, @Fish. No one deserves a Premier League title more. One of these days, one is going to fall your way.

It's a Delicious vs. Mediocre at Best Grand Final. Quite a comeback from these two teams who were in dire straits after seven rounds. Hmmmm perhaps I need to take note of these tactics! Meanwhile, congratulations to our newest Premier coach @Scud and welcome back @Hambone who comes back to Premier League one season after being relegated. A huge performance by both coaches in a very tough Division I competetion. Poon Army and JOBBY THE GOAT into Premier League for 2023.

Preliminary Finals

1st Preliminary Final
Delicious 2479
Roosters 2334

2nd Preliminary Final
Mediocre at Best 2519
TEAM_FISH 2428

A couple of months ago Delicious and Mediocre would have been odds on to miss the eight rather than play on the Grand Final this year. However, both teams have been a model of consistency since about round 8 as they've slowly climbed their way up towards the top of the pile in this hotly contested league. Both sides won through reasonably comfortably with the unlucky FISH copping yet another sour finals exit with Roosters also falling short of the ultimate glory.

@valleys07 is laughably claiming underdog status (or at least begging me not to tip him lol) but you can't do that when you are number one in the Hogg scoring for the year. Having said that, @Feenix is the reigning premier and it's been a perfectly timed premiership to date. Sorry valleys but I reckon you will have a Delicious final.....with a Hogg Premier title for afters.

Grand Final Preview

So after a record breaking Premier League, for all the battles, the carnage, the relegation and finals scrap...after all that what do we get? The same two teams in the Grand Final as last year. Full credit to Delicious and Mediocre at Best who were both relegation candidates at one stage. Mediocre were going so bad they even lost to REBCats. :D

Mediocre are going for back to back premierships after cleaning up Delicious in last year's Granny while Delicous has also won a Premier title back in 2017. The winner of this Grand FInal can lay the claim to be the most successful of the current Premier League coaches as none have won two flags.

See, this is why these blokes are where they are. All sorts of cloak and dagger stuff going on. The uniques list at first glance is tiny. Mediocre has the absolute luxury of having Darcy and English hidden away on the bench. These blokes can be incredibly inconsistent so you can bet Mediocre will have some sort of loop going on there. Meanwhile Naicos and Goldstein on the bench for Delicious. **** all too hard trying to work out what these blokes might do. If I had any idea I'd be in this game instead of one of them.

So bugger the analysis and the what ifs, lets have a look at the scoring. This factor clearly points to Delicious. With two great teams with brilliant lineups, you have to back the higher scoring team in but the reality is that whoever nails the captaincy call is probably going to be the winner of their second Hogg Premier Title.

My tip - Delicious by 23 pts. (apologies valleys!)

Grand Final

Mediocre at Best 2553
Delicious 2463

The 2022 Hogg Premier season has been run and won with Mediocre at Best creating Hogg history by becoming the first team to win back to back premierships in the Premier League. Of course, Mediocre has no chance of winning three on the bounce if he plays Delicious again because I will tip him this time and nothing can beat that. Delicious has come from stone motherless last on the ladder to climb into the Grand Final AND lead the rankings in the Hogg this year but their remarkable season has not landed them their second Hogg Premier Title.

This was the toughest Hogg Premier season to date and I think last year was the second toughest season to date so with Mediocre winning both he would have a fair claim to being the best Hogg Premier League coach in this competition which has just completed it's 16th season. Congrats @Feenix and see you all next season.
