It's still a couple of months away, it will probably be just like the flu by then and we'll just learn to live with it, until the season starts I think we'll all be jumping at shadows.

Someone said on here earlier, that 14 round proposal is looking pretty bloody good right about now, it's gonna be a weird season that's for sure.

It's still a couple of months away, it will probably be just like the flu by then and we'll just learn to live with it, until the season starts I think we'll all be jumping at shadows.

14 rounds absolutely looks like a good alternative, however would anyone be shocked if we ended up doing 9 rounds again? I’m only saying this as moving forward even if it becomes like the flu, it’s still going to be socially irresponsible and unacceptable to mingle in public with Covid or having Covid symptoms. Until boosters are in 80-90% of people’s based on the current scenario’s we’re going to see clubs with some weeks 15-20 people missing games just from Covid let alone other injuries. Don’t get me wrong, there will come a stage where we will have to live with it, however as a society we aren’t anywhere near that yet and with State and Federal elections approaching you can’t see a loosening of the belt in case it gets out of control.

It’s something that’s going to become a massive topic by mid-late Feb I’d suspect.

Fortunately I'm out of the running a football club game, but if I still was I'd be significantly concerned that a large number of the volunteers (be it time keepers, team managers etc) are in an age range (and due to steady diets of west end and winfield blues have significant co-morbidities) that it's going to be very difficult if not impossible to run a season safely.

Alternatively, these are the blokes who effectively keep the trains on the track. Lose them and it becomes impossible to run a season

For the season to get underway the close contact rule is going to need to change to 4 hours indoors

At the moment if you go to after match presos for an hour and someone has covid you’re a close contact (let’s not deny that blokes will be walking around socialising with different people) if this is the case and there’s a positive amongst the group, we could see whole teams or clubs as close contacts

Then it takes until Wednesday morning for the person to learn of their infection and to communicate to the various stakeholders. In the mean time both clubs have conducted Tuesday night training such that unknowing close contacts, who just played a contact sport with someone while infectious, have mingled, while they may be infectious, with their club's entire playing group in a contact sport environment.

Quite conceivable that by the following Saturday two entire clubs are wiped out.

A mitigation measure would be for everyone to take a RAT before playing and training.

But this would be extremely cost and logistically prohibitive one would suspect.

Yep you could definitely see an entire club ruled out in one night......surely the rules change by then.

For arguments sake if you lost that 'community' 'club' feel by not being able to have pressos would you still want games to go ahead or would you prefer they just call the season.

For arguments sake if you lost that 'community' 'club' feel by not being able to have pressos would you still want games to go ahead or would you prefer they just call the season.

For many clubs it wouldn’t be viable to keep playing without generating income from bars on Saturday’s and training days

We get 6 cases mid last year some time and everything gets locked down, we get over 5000 cases in a day and it's meh!!

We can't live in fear forever or there will be no shopping, no going out and more importantly, no contact sport.

It’s not about living in fear, the issue is being in the wrong place at the wrong time and each time that happens you’re in lockdown or sick for 7-10 days. If you’re self employed or someone that requires to be on the road for your job that’s a massive whack to cop.
