1. What was your 1st SANFL Grand Final, how old were you & where did you sit/stand ?
1975 Glenelg V Norwood ,7 yrs, directly behind southern goals, up in concourse.

2. Your best witnessed Grand Final moment (TV does NOT count) ?
Peter Meuret goal from the boundry 1983

3. The worst thing you witnessed in a Grand Final (again TV does NOT count)?
Umpiring late in the game in 75. Goal that would have put bays in front was disallowed for an illegal shepard in the square.
Norwood whisked ball down the other end to goal. Game over. Gutted!

4. All time favourite Grand Final moment
The relief of seeing Super lift the cup in 85.

1978 - North East pocket, standing on my wooden fold up stool that Dad used to smuggle into the ground...went to every SANFL GF from '78 to '95 without a miss

1984 Balme v Evans - was right in front of us

3. The worst thing you witnessed in a Grand Final (again TV does NOT count)?
Chalmers goal from the centre square...just knew it wasnt going to be our day then

1985, although I must say to see the joy of a few Eagles mates last year was gold...

Tim Perkins running from one end to another to kick a goal after Tony Modra kicked it out on the full from 5 metres out in 91.

Tell tale sign that a team is going to lose.
They miss a sitter early in the game. (Usualy by trying to kick the skin off it)
I remember it happening in 82 aswell. Super being ther culprit.

Yep, I thought that too whatever forlorn hope we had that day (we needed everything to go right and for Port to have shocker) evaporated after that kick...

Hodgy was late getting into the rooms at half time (obviously stayed in the box to re-arrange the white-board) players were sitting around the old warm-up area of the Footy Park rooms and he came bursitng in saying, "Were not out of this yet, don't even think they've got this won" some players just looked at him wanting to believe him but deep down they knew too - that goal was very telling psychologically

1985 Grand Final, 15 years old, sat behind the Northern goals, 86 was more memorable when I sat in the front row in front of the members and gave the finger to the camera.

Simsy teaching Westies that they couldn't man handle us in 91 as Westies knew they couldn't beat us with skill and got beaten in the fights after they started the nasty stuff.

Coming from the same people that screamed and cried rape over what mr skipworth did to matt campbell, double standards and rose coloured glasses.

First - '85 Bays v North, 8 yeas old, also sitting behind Northen goals. Getting there at 10am, stadium virtually empty, to watch Woodville in 2's GF v Nwd.

Best moment - Steven Sziller kicking goal from outside 50 into the wind in 2nd quarter v Nwd in 93. Virtually sealed it taht early.
Jamie Tape, who even then, was a favourite player, kicking a goal a few minutes later
Cicca marking, playing on and kicking long goal from inside square in first 1/4 last year. Defined the Eagles attitude for the day.

'90 going with a group of Glenelg supporters, sickened Port were going to win, after AFL saga. Left 28 minutes into last 1/4, only time ever left a game before its end.

A few other definitive/interesting moments, couple already mentioned by other posters:
- James pass to Pascoe, spoilt by Carr (sorry, actually wasn't there, was watching on telly.
- Also, Port kicking 2 late goals just before halftime in that GF, went in 8-10 points down rather than 20+.
- Mattner goal in '02.
- Glenelg missing a few they should have kicked early in '92, esp Fidge try 70m torp.
- Modra's miss as mentioned above, virtually on the goal line.
- Centrals player hitting goal post from 10m out in '95, when they had wind and were building momentum.
- Hodges receiving reversal free kick in '96 in 3/4 right in from of goals.
- Reserves GF '91 - Eagles hit fron with 15 seconds left, South quick kick out of centre, Osborne (??) scrambled kick out of a pack, bounced through, siren went.
- 91 - nearly first centre brak in third quarter, North player marked on HF line, West player (may have been Schumann too) very ill-disguised attempt to spoil and cracked him in the chops. Thought the half time break may settled players down, but in that moment, you knew the game was going to be on knife-edge for the rest of it.

Best GF moment: 2002 when Mattner goaled from 50 on the boundary in the 2nd quarter after running from half back. When he slotted that I thought we had a bit of a sniff then... it still gives me goosebumps!

totally agree, i was listening on the radio and the noise was crazy, couldnt hear a thing.

watching it later, was awesome, brought tears almost and then brods gives him a big hug...gold!!!

1977 Grand Final Port vs Glenelg - was 16 at the time standing behind the northern goals as a neutral observer

2. Your best witnessed Grand Final moment (TV does NOT count) ?

1993 Grand Final - flew down from Darwin earlier that day, soaked up the game back to the club and got smashed and then flew back to Darwin on the Sunday

3. The worst thing you witnessed in a Grand Final (again TV does NOT count)?

2004 Grand Final but it was the spur for 2006.

4. All time favourite Grand Final moment

2006 GF as a whole - just to keep on coming back after years of failures against the Doggies and finally putting that dog (no pun intended) to rest

1. 1973 10yr old in front of scoreboard, christ it was hot!

2. gs cornes took that mark and me old man lifted me up on his shoulders so i could see the kick, an absolute priceless moment of my life

3.i dont care that i saw this on tv and its breaking leh's rule, but sims's hit on matthew simpson was a shocker and his bragging about it on tv news that night was even worse, the guy is a dog imho

4. the whole 2nd qtr of 1986, absolute champagne football!
