Or some other reason?????????????????????????

You know something we don’t, Locky? Do tell. ;)

No i dont, seems strange we are putting in such an inspid performance and things havent been all that great on field the last couple weeks, few players look unfit ?? carrying injuries perhaps, we had been playing some great footy, then this crap, cudos to sturt but appears very little pressure

Mmmm, we’ve definitely approached the game like a pre-season practice match.

Well done Sturt, took the game by the throat straight from the outset and never looked back. Reckon you can look forward to next season with plenty of confidence. Some very useful talent on display at Unley today, and in the hands of Mattner will be a team to watch. I’m certainly glad we’re not playing Sturt again next week.

North - very, very disappointing, particularly with the double on the line and a pretty much full strength side. Not sure how to approach next week’s elimination final against the Panthers. Seems like we could either continue recent shit form and flat-out capitulate, or turn it around on a deck that we play well on and against a side we accounted for comfortably a couple of weeks’ ago. At any rate, winning form is good form, and right now we ain’t got it.

Glad Sturt are not in the finals. They would have scared a few sides.

Yes on both counts. Sturt 2021 = Glenelg 2018.

Further to that ... consider the Pure Ladder (tm) in the second half of the season:

Ladder from round 10 to round 19:

Code: Select all

.............P...W...D.....F......A......%
Glenelg......7...7...0....642....452....58.68
Sturt........7...5...0....458....305....60.03
Eagles.......7...5...0....536....368....59.29
North........7...4...0....598....535....52.78
Norwood......7...4...0....436....425....50.64
South........7...2...0....451....488....48.03
Central......7...1...0....349....632....35.58
West.........7...0...0....311....576....35.06

Compare with the Pure Ladder (tm) in the first half:

Ladder to round 9:

Code: Select all

.............P...W...D.....F......A......%
Glenelg......7...7...0....600....450....57.14
Eagles.......7...5...0....606....418....59.18
South........7...5...0....554....515....51.82
North........7...3...0....567....458....55.32
Norwood......7...3...0....372....468....44.29
Central......7...2...0....471....598....44.06
West.........7...2...0....433....623....41.00
Sturt........7...1...0....422....495....46.02

Sturt the form team for sure.

Amazing by us considering we had mid season drafts leave and then multiple retirements throughout the closing rounds.

I thought we'd finish down the bottom at the start of the year so to go so deep into the season has me 'pepped' for next season.

Best of luck to the teams remaining in the hunt for the flag and go the blues in 2022!

I know that it won't show up in any record books but North went a whole game plus 8 minutes without scoring a goal against Sturt.

In the game against Sturt at Prospect, North scored their seventh and last goal for the macth at the 14 minute and 27 second mark of the second quarter.

On Sunday at Unley, North didn't score a goal until the 22 minute and 29 second mark of the second quarter.

I have previously said that on what I have seen Glenelg are a 5 goal better side than any other team in the comp. I qualify that by saying that on what I I have seen, Sturt are also 5 goals better than any other side other than Glenelg.

How did they not make the 5? That game at Prospect where North didn't score a goal for more than a half and still conjured a win has cost Sturt a finals place. Fahy-Sparks had a chance to win that match in the dying seconds. I shouldn't single him out as I rate him as likely to become the best big forward in the competition as McBean and Hayes age. Fahy-Sparks has a beautiful pair of hands but his kicking is "iffy". Oliver Grivell too has a beautiful pair of hands.

And finally is it just against North that Abe Davis dominates. He used to kill North when he was at South and he is continuing that form at Sturt.

There will be some expectations next year about the Blues. Still looked a couple of players short against the top 2 teams in recent times. A class midfielder and key forward/ruckman wouldn't go astray, with Patrick Wilson helping to fill one void. I hear the salary cap will largely be unchanged for next season so recruiting won't get any easier.
