The problem is that many SANFL clubs seem to be content with the Crowds that they are getting and see no reason as to why they should have to do anything different to attract supporters.
South and Central are two clubs that are willing to try new things and both have seen there attendances rise as a result.
I think that the SANFL management and the nine SANFL clubs have to work together to solve the problem and do a lot more to increase interest in the SANFL. If we do that then we can sell out the Grand Final.
Westies are talking about admitting cars to the far side of the ground at Richmond like what happens at Noarlunga and Glenelg are talking about getting lights up and running to have Friday night footy at the Bay. Both suggestions will likely increase crowd numbers for both clubs.
Every SANFL club should play a game in their country zone once a year. If the Eagles played a match at Moonta at Easter next year, they could well have 8000+ there and opportunities to sign up many new members on the day, as could any other SANFL club if they got out into their zone and did the hard work.
The attitude from the SANFL and admittingly from a number of Posters on this board is that it is better to do nothing at all and hope that it changes by natural attrition. If that is how it is going to be, then it will change - crowd figures will simply get less and less and the number of kids who have no idea who the SANFL clubs are or what their colours are will continue to increase.
