Certainly as a non-playing coach it appears to be the record. There is conjecture as to the captain also being 'coach' in the early 20th century...Sampson Hosking in his first such year in 1912 had Port undefeated until the two opportunities to win the flag, but lost them both to West - 13 wins all up.

Just on Sampson "Shine" Hoskings coaching record... he didnt do so well when he coached South for the 1926 season.
South finished bottom and didnt win a game.

I reckon they won at the Parade by a point in that run too.

I think that the win against Norwood in 1981 was at Football Park.
I can remember that it was Round 10, the last of their 10 wins in a row, before they lost to Port, who had been horribly out of form to that time.

The other year that old timers like me remember is 1969 where Glenelg won their first 11 games, most by huge margins, They then lost to West Torrens which then won their last 10 minor round games. Yet neither side won the flag.

North also won their first 11 games in 1985 and 1989 and of course never won the flag in that year either.

I do think that Glenelg will reverse that trend though this year. I have said before that I think that they are 5 goals better than any other side but time will tell.
