R5 North v Glenelg Saturday 2.10PM

Post by DOC »

Flag favourites the undefeated Glenelg Tigers travel to Prospect looking to maintain their perfect record. The Bay boys (not the ripple soled wearers from the 70's) have a great record at Prospect having won 3 and drawing the other in their last four.

North and Glenelg have had some spirited encounters over the last few years and I expect this to be no different. It is after all the Stringer cup up for grabs.

Glenelg look to me to have a well balanced side with options a plenty. Snook, Virgin and Partington win plenty of the ball and use it to good advantage. North have Almond, Spina and Moore in the same great form and I think they will be looking to find a lift from Aaron Young.

North to atone for last weeks loss by a goal.

Surely the Motlop Cup as there's a couple of them that's played for both teams in different eras!
Or maybe the Bones Cup.

What about the Adrian Rebbeck Cup @mal?

I’m expecting another close match against North, I would imagine we’ll go in unchanged again.
Looking forward to the annual RSL visit too. Will have one for you @Magellan.

Me and the missus always go into the RSL prior and after a game, will be missing prior drinks this week as going to the VP Lunch but will definately be there after the game if you want to share a beer.
Shannon or Shane behind the bar will point me out.

Cheers Spargo, really wish I could be there. Should be a cracker match, much like the last couple at Prospect. Make mine/yours a stout.

The topic says 2.10PM start, but the SANFL fixture has it listed as a 1.10 start.

Should be a great game for the Backwell Cup, tough to pick a winner as both are up and about and should be right in the thick of things come finals time. Can't see myself tipping against the Bays often this season, but maybe North at home by 8 points.

Will there be a three-peat from the select group of NAFC "supporters" and their unsociable behaviour this week?
The Bearded Wonder and Lollipop Stripes in particular who disgraced themselves last week.

Just had the privilege to listen to Peter Carey as our guest speaker at the Vice Presidents lunch, what a great man he is to listen to. I never knew he signed with Melbourne in the early 70s.
Despite being a Bay champion he got a great reception from the North faithful.
Messaged his son Matty who I'm friends with and lives in Darwin to say I was sitting less than 2 metres away from his Dad, small world.
