Yes, Mallala v Balaklava had NEFL as well, Apparently there was a APFL umpires wedding on, 2 yesterday were 50/50, And I hear the APFL has decided no more Budget as they are a poor seller, Good/Bad?? Crowd were divided on opinion yesterday.

It was the clubs that voted against having it, 6 to 2.

Hamley got a plug on Triple M this morning. Apparently first win in over 60 games and Butcher 15 shots on goal. Roo and Ditts were loving it.

Down by 5 goals going into the last qrt so not the greatest but kicking 9.3 and taking the win is amazing result for them and the league! Some worrying signs for United tho with a big lost against Hamley in both As and Bs and now having to take on Mallala this weekend..... could be a 100+ point lost on the cards!

Correct, Will Dixon got married Saturday leaving the APFL very short on umpires with at least 6 umpires attending, all A Grade umpires.

It left a big hole as they generally only have enough to cover all games with a couple that fill in for emergencies, it's a tough roster to juggle as you don't want too many but they need a couple of spares for the odd week when there's something on, they need 20 every week to cover all games.

Apparently Virginia game scoring uploaded was incorrect was 3pts in it at 3 qtr time and lead changed multiple times in last quarter
Great to see hopefully the league is evening up a little
Hamley also winning was fantastic to see.

Would be a sad day that oval doesn't have football at it.

That won't happen, there's too many good people and families that bleed club colours out there, I think #23 was alluding to this year is going to be a tough one on the scoreboard, the smaller clubs have had their time down the bottom over the past 10-15 years.

Good to hear, a new a couple of families engrained into United and as you said there is a lot of great passionate people there.

Going to be hard for a lot of country clubs in the next 5 years though.

I know at BSR we only have 4 spare players missing out in the b grade this week and now not having a colts team who knows what the future holds. 3 teams in the NEFL don't have colts, hard to see how they go on in 5-10 years.

I am somewhat biased but I actually think it is going to be exciting times at United. Their A grade side on the weekend had 15 players that have played juniors for the club. Of the others 1 lives in the area and is coaching the under 8s, another is on the committee, another has moved to Owen and another is a local agronomist. This is more than any other club on the weekend.
They also have the most numbers in the under 11s and under 8s out of all clubs so the future (albeit 5plus years for these kids to start playing seniors) is as bright as its ever been.
Yes the senior colts are short, the apfl has been aware of this for a number of years, there just isn't the population base for this grade however I'm sure the club will continue to think outside of the box to help prop up numbers in the short term.
Yes the A grade may not make finals this season, but with such a large local base getting opportunities that are not available at other clubs, I'm sure it will put them in a great position going forward.
Like a good investment the biggest rewards go to those who invest near the bottom of the cycle not those that get in at the top!
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!
