Touched many people including overseas artists who toured here, this from Bruce Springsteen:

My friend Michael Gudinski was first, last, and always a music man. I’ve toured the world for the last fifty years and never met a better promoter. Michael always spoke with a deep rumbling voice, and the words would spill out so fast that half the time I needed an interpreter. But I could hear him clear as a bell when he would say, “Bruce, I’ve got you covered.” And he always did. He was loud, always in motion, intentionally (and unintentionally) hilarious, and deeply soulful. He will be remembered by artists, including this one, from all over the world every time they set foot on Australian soil. My deepest condolences to his wife and partner Sue and to the whole Gudinski family, of which he was so proud.

– Bruce Springsteen

Not an entertainer but made bloody good pies and pasties and sponsored many of our footy clubs.

Legendary Adelaide baking magnate, Vilmos Milisits, affectionately known as Vili, has died aged 72.

Mr Milisits had been battling several health conditions, including multiple pneumonias, before undergoing an unsuccessful lung transplant on Friday night at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.

His wife, Rosemary Milisits, confirmed the tragic news, and remembered Vili as a genuine, hardworking man who was adored by many.

“The family are all totally devastated,” Mrs Milisits said.

“He was always a fighter and believed in quality and values above all.

“He was a benefactor and an all-round good bloke, someone who when he gave his word, you know would honour it.”

Mrs Milisits extended sincere gratitude to customers and friends who offered support throughout Vili’s various health issues.

“The three generations of our family in the business would like to thank customers and friends who made inquiries over the months,” she said.

“People have been very kind in his sickness, and everyone was wishing him a speedy recovery.”

I was hoping he might have lasted until his next birthday. I wanted to see if he would get a telegram from his missus.
