I see a bit of conjecture on the Mt Barker council facebook page about the new multi million dollar complex - they dont have any signed up tenants?!! Its only been years in the making, and I recall the Mt Barker fc and the mayor and pollies digging the ground and now there isnt a committment from any club (including soccer by the sounds of it?) to go there?

This should have all been sorted out by now I would have thought, but let me guess, there is a 'stadium management authority' that wants revenue from whoever is going to play there and clubs have worked out that whilst it is a fantastic facility Im sure, it wont be financially viable for them to play there. Any one know any more? Seems a waste to have a facility sitting there (would the grass be ready to play on this year though?)

It would seem obvious to have Mt Barker Football Club be the primary tenant. Perhaps the HFL with the head lease (for football months) subletting it to Mt Barker Football Club for minor round games. Maybe then, finals played there under HFL banner - but the old problem is who runs the services like canteen, bar and BBQ areas and who keeps the money. As we all know, if you have to pay people to do this stuff, there is much less revenue. Clubs hosting finals is also a much needed revenue source for clubs, so the existence of this facility may change that dynamic as well. Also, is the area fenced off to allow gate sales on any match day? Big miss for a solution if as I suspect it is all open.

Will be the best deck in the Hills!

Maybe Sturt could play an annual SANFL game at the facility as well?

I did read somewhere that the surface would need to be allowed to settle in until September, which does seem a long time to me. That would suggest the possibility of some HFL finals if all issues canvassed in previous posts above have been addressed being the first possible use. I have scratched around on the Mt Barker Council web site to see where the board is at with finding tenets for the facility, but all the board meetings minutes on this have not been released. Just some stuff on the recently announced naming of it.

I see on Blackwoods website their teams in u7, u8, u9 and u10 are going to play down in the city. So the Hills is not good enough for them in modifieds ranks? then perhaps the HFL and SA Community Footy should step in and say one team in all in. It is riduculous for a club to be able to play in different leagues. I am sure the entire Blackwood FC would not be missed in the HFL if they went and played in suburbia. If you want to play in a leauge then all their teams should play there (unless they have a team that the HFL cant provide a competition for which is not the case).

Had a quite extensive conversation today with a few fellow HFL stalwarts.

Who do you think is the best player in the competition?
And why?

Interested to see some opinions.

Will there be a C grade in the HFL in 2021?

Any idea when the U18 fixture will be out?

There will be C Grade this year. Even Kangarilla is putting up a C Grade team for this season.
I believe the U18 draw is taking a little while because it is 1 comp with teams from clubs in both divisions so fixturing is a bit trickier
