Quite the opposite, I heard it was good, just didn't expect how good it actually was.mighty_tiger_79 wrote:That bad???Lightning McQueen wrote:And I forgot Chianti's on Friday night, one word: Wow!!!

You get entertainment with the food?Lightning McQueen wrote:And I forgot Chianti's on Friday night, one word: Wow!!!
It's a top shelf place IMO, although haven't been for a while. The blue swimmer crab pasta is pretty damn tasty, hope they still serve it.Lightning McQueen wrote:Quite the opposite, I heard it was good, just didn't expect how good it actually was.mighty_tiger_79 wrote:That bad???Lightning McQueen wrote:And I forgot Chianti's on Friday night, one word: Wow!!!

Yep, had it as an entree and it trumped my delicious Angas Scotch Fillet, it looked a bit funky but it was amazing.Magellan wrote:It's a top shelf place IMO, although haven't been for a while. Last weeks reheated left overs.......what could go wrong? The Bedge wrote:It's not a restaurant (or pub).. but i'm filthy!
Two long meetings this afternoon, had 20min to quickly duck out and find something - hit up City Cross Arcade with the food court. Go to a place 'City Yum Cha & BBQ' - ooh two choices with rice sounds good.. so first choice is the Kung Pao Chicken..
Nah says the lady, take this pre-packed one for $5 - Bargain!
Hmm.. ok.
"Take these dumplings too!" she says - "only $6"
I'm hungry, righto give me the pan fried half dozen.
The dumplings were the worst I've ever eaten. Undercooked, over filled, cold and doughy. The "pan fry" turned out to be just oil staining, obviously a cold pan, and the dumpling casing was too thick.
Filthy as I still ate them, I moved onto the Kung Pao Chicken..
Open it up, it's cold, its 80% rice.. and where is the chicken?!?! On top of the rice was some sauce, couple pieces of chopped dried chilli and some veg that looked gross.
I know it's my fault for going to a food court and you get what you pay for.. but if you're Chinese and you own/operate a Chinese eatery.. and you sell dumplings.. YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO ******* COOK THE THINGS!!!
Officially black listed.
1/10 - price earns point.

Might have to check this one out. Haven't been out and about in the Port for a while, so seems like a good excuse to do so. Is it the one next door to Argo on the Black Diamond corner side?Booney wrote:I've said it before and I'll say it again, Miss Viet in the Port.
$35 banquet, 3 courses :
Entree - Spring roll, steamed dimmy, chicken wing, pork cutlet
Main - Noodle dish ( we got tofu and mushroom) pickled veg dish, meat platter with 2 types of chicken, beef and pork chops
Dessert - Ice cream and cake
As it's on the chef's whim you get something different every time except for value for money and delicious food, you get that every time.
