Opposite. Always pulled them up, it was the earliest form of compression around the calves on a cold winters day. Footy socks were years in front of “skins”....

I hate seeing players playing with their socks down.
The sock is part of your club colours and it looks disrespectful not to play with your socks up and show your colours.
We are the only sport in the world where we allow our players to play socks down and it is a horrible look.
Pull them up and show respect to your club.
We went thru the glove phase and no one wears them now and they should never have been allowed.
Same with the socks. It is a monkey see monkey do thing. some one started it and others follow it is a horrible look.
It is something that has slowly creeped into our game over the last few years.
Pull them up and look like footballers.

Even when I was playing 20 years ago it was a well known fact you couldn't have metal studs in your boots, never even considered it. I was surprised at the time that rugby players could wear them.
