I Hate The Final 8

It sucks.
Geelong after dominating the season deserve more of an advantage.
Lose tonight and no double chance for them.
If it was a final 5 at least they'd have 2 shots at the GF and deservedly so with the season they've had.
They actually ended up no better off than the 4th side with the Kangaroos getting their first final at home with the double chance.
One bad night and its all gone, I hate that and it shouldn't come down to that.
Bring back the Final 5 (It'll never happen because of revenue issues).

Never really thought of it like that but you are spot on Wedgie, does seem a tad unfair, as much as I don't like Geelong and as much as I hate the Wobbles, and as much as I hate both playing tomorrow I just want to see the two underdogs get up to help me pay my credit card off.

But seriously it is a joke, the Cats have been by far the best side all year and my a number of goals each game I might add, one slip up tonight and it's back to the Geelong of old which seems so unfair

Wedgie, I think the week off at this level of competition is enough....?

The only thing that can beat the Cats is lack of Finals experience

I heard 90,000 people attending......

Could Didak kick the winning score after the Final Siren my friend...?
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

I think theres always going to be inequalities in whichever system they have. As it is, Geelong play the 4th side (whilst 2nd plays 3rd) and are guaranteed of a double chance.

I'm not sure a top 5, with 16 clubs would work. I'd love to see the amount of clubs reduced overall, and if there was only 12, i'd say a top 5 would be fine.

If i was a Geelong supporter i'd also be annoyed about not being able to play a final at Kardinia Park (Shell stadium, or whatever its called now).

i agree with your reasoning there wedgie, other than the week off its not as rewarding as it could/should be. particularly when the minor premier is so dominant, unlike adelaide recently where it was kind of harder to work out how on earth they managed it

i must admit though i've always liked prelim final week in the afl as much as any week, the excitement of knowing theres no tomorrow for the loser. i guess thats why there are so many upsets, along with the fact that there is so much expectation 1 week out from the gf. it must be a combination of reasons but it always seems that the g.f.s are predictable 4 out of 5 times, but the prelims have always produced these absolute classics that are more memorable than the g.f.

fair? perhaps not, but damn i'm looking forward to this weekends games!

as for the sanfl its harder for centrals not to get into the grand final than it is to get in. i don't mean that they don't work hard, it just seems overly countered towards 1st spot due to the odd number of teams. Playing only 2 games in 4 weeks to win a premiership... not too sure about that. Don't know if there's a real alternative with a top 5 though...

sounds like the nerves have got to you, when Adelaide lost the Prelim in 2005, we were branded as Chockers, if the Cats lose tonight, it's the final 8 system

last half of the year, all we have heard is how unbeatable they are, even before tonight's bounce, your already moving towards damage control

Nah mate, but if it was a Final 5 system and I knew the Cats had another chance like they should have I wouldn't have had a coronary like I did.
Do you have any idea what it is like to live an unhealthy lifestyle like I do and put up with North winning close ones coming from behind by 50 pts and 30 pts and watching the Cats do that?
If survive until November it'll be amazing.

tonight's game would of been hard on the ticker, however, I believe it's the tough game the Cats needed, it's a reality check without suffering a loss, Bomber can now drill the point, the gap is not as wide as some players may of thought, it does not matter that the Cats have 9 all australians or finished 6 games in front of any other side... they need to be on thier game, and I am sure they will be

Mate, I'm seriously getting sick and tired of tough games in both the SANFL and AFL.
My football clubs might not be chokers but I think I am as I can't handle it.
