Re: COVID-19
Once you've played 25 games at a club whether juniors, seniors or a combination of both you are forever a zero pointer at that club. Some players could have 3 or 4 clubs where they are zero. The interesting thing for a player who first played at a country club in 2019 as a 3 pointer is that they would be a 2 pointer in 2020 and then go to 0 points in 2021 assuming they reached 25 games during 2020. But if they now decide to head to another club for the remainder of this season then return to their 2019 country club - then they will go back to being a 3 pointer in 2021.
It will be interesting what the SACFL do with the points system for 2021 because lots of players who were playing their 2nd season at a club this year would have got their 25 games up. And that will be the case in both situations of a league not playing at all or a league that is squeezing in half a season.

Re: COVID-19
You hear of clubs doing it tough, but you’d be playing a dangerous game if you didn’t field a side in or near Adelaide especially. Players will go elsewhere and if they enjoy that experience then they ain’t coming back. Also, blokes nearing or are over 30. If they decide to not play a lot of them won’t start up again, or if they do at best it’ll be half cocked in a lower grade - Trust me on the latter from experience. Starting up again in 2021 will take a long time to get back as a club anywhere in the State.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Greenacres appear to be the only one.

Re: COVID-19
Observation (think I’ve mentioned before): but a lot of the people opposed to playing seem to be those who don’t play or have an affiliation, or older generation who have been panicked by the whole situation and think the world is ending.
Greenacres probably an example of the latter - pulled the pin, and why? Too expensive, too much burden on volunteers, risk of spreading to “essential workers”, too much uncertainty around the season going ahead and a stack of “what if’s”.
Half the issue i believe is people not reading information released properly or misinterpreting it, and perhaps not seeking clarity.

Re: COVID-19
In other news, what are peoples thoughts on the revised match conditions? 25min quarters for B grade?! Outrageous!
Cant say i'm a fan of the 2 match finals qual either, it's just not enough.. 3 or 4 wouldn't been more suitable.

I guess its just halved in line with the amount of games, but I reckon 3 would have been fair.
Not sure about the reasoning behind 25min quarters for the B grade? 22min with no time on is fine. Would have thought less time on the field would have been the logic given the current climate...

Re: COVID-19
20min flat for B grade would've been fine, and leave the 3 on the bench (although 4 doesn't really matter either).
3 games would've been fair - most injuries would fall in the 4-6 week max bracket, so you'd still have time to squeeze 3 potentially if you got injured.
Feel like 2 games is a piss take.

Re: COVID-19
I suppose this everyone's opportunity to simply say yes or no. I don’t think the League cares whether its 22 or 25 minutes or 3 matches to qualify
“All revised conditions will be considered accepted unless a simple majority offers feedback to the contrary by no later than Close of Business Wednesday 24th June 2020.”

bedge is only shitty because he has to wait another 20 minutes before destroying the canteen..
what about trade the extra numbers and extra minutes for 3 more points?

Not at all, i'll just go to the canteen mid game, i'll be bored of it by the last quarter.
No more points you don't need it. Although with extended bench you'd think perhaps go with the 17 pts like finals.
I vote:
10:00 C grade - 7x bench, 20min qtrs.
12:15 B grade - 3x bench, 22min qtrs.
14:30 A grade - 3x bench, 20+ min qtrs.

Re: COVID-19
Having managed 7 on the bench for a few years now, 4 or 5 doesn't really bother me. I think we've moved on past 3 though, especially in the A grade. Not enough IMO

Weird to hear this suggestion of "mercenaries".
I've been consistently led to believe on this site that players want to play in the BLG for it's superior atmosphere.
Weird that's no longer the case

Re: COVID-19
Players have until end of June to clear.. anyone who moves from a club not playing can only move to original club and on a COVID permit - that should provide a bit of comfort to those clubs not playing.

Ive heard this is likely to move until the end of July, i know our club only had 6 players registered the other day, theres going to be a lot of players trying to register at the same time before June 30, could get interesting

Good to see you casually throw angaston in there. Had 1 good year and coincidentally the same year the cheque book opened. I'm sure borholm summerton and Shannon signed on for the atmosphere. Good luck to clubs that can afford to outlay that much money each year but no one is buying the play for atmosphere crap. I speak to bomber regularly and I'm sure he'll tell me he loves it so much he can't wait to play for free again in 2021 because of the atmosphere. In fact not sure he's getting $0 in 2020.
