6 team comp would be really disappointing and not worth it. Good luck keeping players motivated and sticking around.football tragic wrote:there is a start date of July 4th the league are waiting on a final decision on who is in and out for 2020.pureclass wrote:The APFL haven’t got a start date at this stage and if they are following the CFL, they can’t pay any players.Lightning McQueen wrote:Sounds like a pretty full on meeting last night with nothing set in concrete, it's going to be a very long intense meeting tomorrow night.
How many city based players would have been driving to football training at the moment knowing they will not be getting paid and not knowing if the season will go ahead? Not many I wouldn’t have thought. Doesn’t sound promising clubs and the league.
hearing maybe 2 clubs light and a 6 team comp.
Hearing that the decision could even drag out another week after tonight. What a farce.

Could be a 9 team comp yet. Who knows!
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
The Adelaide Plains Football League met with clubs tonight to discuss season 2020. The Board is very pleased to announce that clubs have voted unanimously to commence the season on 11 Jul.
Whilst all clubs were unanimous that the APFL season should go ahead, there may be some clubs that choose not to participate in the season. Any decision on club participation is respected as clubs will do so based on what is best for their club, players and community, but there will be a minimum of 5 or 6 teams in the competition.
The APFL would like to extend sincere thanks to all our clubs, committees and volunteers for their leadership and commitment during this difficult time. It's only through your strong commitment to community and football that this has been possible.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Tonight the APFL met with delegates from all clubs. A decision was for the 2020 season to commence.
Balaklava Football Club committee made a decision not to be play in the 2020 season at this stage due to the current restrictions. We will continue to monitor easing of restrictions over the next week.
This decision was not undertaken lightly. Please be supportive of your committee who have responded to the survey results, financial feasibility and the enormous workload needed to comply with current COVID restrictions.

Puzzled by Balaks response as the restrictions easing on July 3rd is enough info to make a decisionmagpieeagle wrote:Tonight the APFL met with delegates from all clubs. A decision was for the 2020 season to commence.

Unsure to what they are expecting to change that will make a decision easier.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Was no secret Balak were concerned about the potential “waste” of hosting this years GF. Perhaps this is a toys out the cot approach to force a favorable agreement re. hosting the grand final? Just let them have it again next year. Split gate takings from all of this years finals across all the clubs or something similar. Hopefully by finals time operations and restrictions are as normal anyway.football tragic wrote:Puzzled by Balaks response as the restrictions easing on July 3rd is enough info to make a decisionmagpieeagle wrote:Tonight the APFL met with delegates from all clubs. A huge disappointment in Balaklava's announcement not to participate in the season, but respected.
Maybe an earlier decision from the APFL directors, could have given clubs more time to prepare? who knows.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
yep hearing Hummocks and Balak out but might be a case of trying to get the league to share gate for finals etc …..trying to get it on better terms and standing over the league for a decision.magpieeagle wrote:Totally Agree, At the moment its a no so it should stay no, also hearing HWE maybe a no go as well.football tragic wrote:The league should have not given them a week to now decideLightning McQueen wrote:Plenty more to play out yet IMO.Number7 wrote:A huge disappointment in Balaklava's announcement not to participate in the season, but respected.

You could potentially add a third club thats teetering on the edge of being a no as well.football tragic wrote:yep hearing Hummocks and Balak out but might be a case of trying to get the league to share gate for finals etc …..trying to get it on better terms and standing over the league for a decision.magpieeagle wrote: Totally Agree, At the moment its a no so it should stay no, also hearing HWE maybe a no go as well.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Why? There are six clubs keen to play. Some leagues play with four team every year. The current restrictions are not insurmountable and they will ease further before the season starts.Number7 wrote:That would almost call the season done and dusted now.The Big Shrek wrote:HWE facebook post says they are out.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Bal and HWE joined the other clubs in voting that there should be a season in the best interest of the league as a whole. Their choice to not compete in the comp was for their individual clubs best interests which is completely up to them and is respected by the league.
