If there has to be that much deliberation and tension in the meeting it sounds like the decision is already made. Does a decision have to be unanimous across the clubs to play? If that's the case then that decision is never going to happen. The clubs hosting finals won't want to lose cash and other clubs won't want to put even more strain on thin numbers of volunteers, many of whom you may lose with no netball. I would be keen to know the key discussion points outside of these 2 factors.
Just hope the kids will at least get to have a kick in some form of carnival. Kids shouldn't be deprived of the chance to play because of monetary decisions.

The member clubs would make the decisions, the APFL Directors need to provide all of the information they have to the club delegates/presidents so they can make the choice of playing or abstaining for the season.NothingDoing wrote:

I'd imagine the Directors would prefer the season to go ahead, they just can't hold themselves liable for such a decision.

Can't really blame the league here. They asked last week for a response from clubs and a list of questions. Going by the list of questions it's written as if only 1 club had any. Kudos to that club!
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
The league should have been a lot more organised and followed the lead of a professionally run organisation like the SAAFL which is now governed by the SANFL. It could have been voted on 4-5 weeks ago subject to restrictions easing if clubs would be participating....now its nothing more than a shambles in which most clubs have lost interest and so have the playing groups who will lose faith in the league moving forward and venture to rival amateur clubs in the north who are playing In 2020.Mythical Creature wrote:Can't really blame the league here. Taking responsibility is exactly what is expected of the league directors. To leave the decision this long, with no resolution is inept? It really was a simple decision 3 weeks ago! are we playing yes or no??Lightning McQueen wrote:NothingDoing wrote:

Netball daylights ahead in their actions, right or wrong they made a call, a good one IMO.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Hopefully tomorrow night's meeting will put a line a through the clubs that can't commit under current restrictions, and there are enough clubs left so we can play some footy in early July. It'll be evident very early on in the meeting which clubs are keen and which aren't interested in putting in the effort. It'll be a good reflection of just how well managed some clubs are, and the commitment of their respective committees to trying to make this work.
A competition with 5-6 teams would still be worthwhile, any less is probably a waste of everyone's time.

I disagree, the laws are changing nearly daily, they need to take everything into account, what if they demanded the season go ahead there was an outbreak at a game? They would be liable and probably sued.Number7 wrote:

Clubs have a general idea whether they are playing or not, tonight is their chance to say their piece.
I do think that they should've probably held the meetings the night after the CFB met last week, the extra week would've been handy for all.

Clubs are covered under their public liability insurance if an outbreak is somehow linked to a club
Full squad training (stage 4) brought forward a week to June 19th

Couldn't agree more with that !! the clubs who decide not to proceed with a season are taking a big gamble for what 2021 may look like in my opinion.Swamp Donkey wrote:Hopefully tomorrow night's meeting will put a line a through the clubs that can't commit under current restrictions, and there are enough clubs left so we can play some footy in early July. As we know once players leave and play elsewhere its very hard to lure them back.

The return to play model has been up and running for 3 weeks now across Amateur league grades, with their start date 27th (trial games) first round July 4th.Lightning McQueen wrote:I disagree, the laws are changing nearly daily, they need to take everything into account, what if they demanded the season go ahead there was an outbreak at a game? The APFL have not even made a decision yet? This not really fair for the clubs, whom will now be under pressure to in motion alot of moving parts, namely player availability.

Where has this been announced? Is APFL one of only two leagues in SA yet to make a call on the season?Number7 wrote:The return to play model has been up and running for 3 weeks now across Amateur league grades, with their start date 27th (trial games) first round July 4th.Lightning McQueen wrote:I disagree, the laws are changing nearly daily, they need to take everything into account, what if they demanded the season go ahead there was an outbreak at a game? Without knowing any details regarding the hold up, if there is still such reluctancy from some clubs around proceeding (which is understandble), is there any point in forcing the season?

The APFL haven’t got a start date at this stage and if they are following the CFL, they can’t pay any players.Lightning McQueen wrote:Sounds like a pretty full on meeting last night with nothing set in concrete, it's going to be a very long intense meeting tomorrow night.
How many city based players would have been driving to football training at the moment knowing they will not be getting paid and not knowing if the season will go ahead? Not many I wouldn’t have thought. Doesn’t sound promising clubs and the league.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
I presume the start date of the July 4th would be based upon playing the required amount of rounds to get a fair season out including finals.
I think we all just want to see Footy back ASAP.
