No, he acknowledges the event had momentum, cases are low and the police force wasn't in a position to stop it and preferred to work with the organisers. They won't be doing that again though, so as I said now we find out who was there Saturday supporting the cause and who was there for a shit fight with the coppers. One group will be there this weekend, one will not.

Actually i wonder if Police were made to take holidays etc and or laid off like everyone else since they wouldve had nothing to do since the restrictions were implemented. Could that have been why the protest went ahead, didnt have the resources to stop it?

On the contrary, when restrictions were first implemented all police leave that I know of was cancelled as it was all hands on deck. Police spent most of their time attending domestic violence calls...Joe Citizen would be surprised at the shit cops have to deal with on an daily basis.

It's being led by Clive Palmer, so you know there must be a good reason for it. I'm not sure 'relevance deprivation syndrome' is within the High Court's jurisdiction, though.

The near boarder communities have been complaining a lot, however I would have thought the loss in business from the NSW guys who can't come up into the bottom of QLD would roughly be off-set by the QLDers who normally headed just south to grab a feed, etc, so overall I would have thought there wasn't a huge impact on businesses due to the boarder closing.
It's just the general downturn that all businesses have copped due to the social distancing rule.
Get rid of the restrictions other than boarders and things will get back to somewhere near normal fairly soon for these guys.

Now, the businesses that rely on tourism, thats another kettle of fish and they will be stuffed for a long time.
No one going to the GC for holidays anytime soon either.

Go to the high court all you want, no chance the govt should open the boarders up IMO.

How does the border closure work for Qld/NSW?
Last time I was at Coolangatta/Tweed Heads the border was in the middle of the road.
