Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
My recollection is the Crows drove this all to happen, Im not convinced Port would have made the move if the Crows didn't instigate it

Two different things, were we going to push for it and would we prefer for it to happen. Were we going to push? I doubt it, don't think we would have won too many favours from the SANFL. Would we prefer for it? We'd been surreptitiously moving players to the Magpies for ages from SANFL clubs.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Yep this. Port wanted it, but didn’t have to cause any ripples by sitting back and watching the Crows/Trigg show unfold.

Agree, it wouldn't have occurred without the Crows pushing for it.
This is a interesting read in retrospect -> https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/ ... 10b1cf02cd

Yeah Port definitely handled the reserves saga alot better than the Crows despite the fact ultimately they wanted the same result.
Port held alot more integrity throughout the debate compared to the Crows who were an absolute shit show.......was that really David Burternshaw posting on SAFooty that time????
I have no issue with Port's role in the AFL reserves drama.

I have a different view on this though.
Not sure that sitting back and letting it all happen is much better then what the Crows did, especially given how many Magpies supporters were bitterly disappointed with the outcome.
I guess in fairness the league was ****** as soon as they voted to allow the Ravens in.

Yup. Port were keen for it. There was a degree of collusion between Port and Adelaide, They knew If Port argued for it no chance it was going to succeed given how much Port were loved by the rest of the SANFL.
If this was going to succeed this was an argument the Crows were going to have to lead and risk the bad publicity.
There are times the two AFL franchises work together for mutual benefit despite what Booney's twitter friend might think.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
The smears had wanted a reserves team in the SANFL from as early as Mark Williams' tenure. They simply did not have the clout to make it happen. Big brother - the SANFL'S favoured child - had to do the dirty work.

It's easy to label people as whingers.
Doesn't make what we're saying any less legitimate.
But hey, you're having fun with this issue, and that's all that matters, so give yourself a pat on the back, champion.
Yes, it is, when the cap fits.
As you please.
Fun? Not really, my whinge is no less legitimate than your whinge. Oh, and I noticed after we both whinged that nothing had changed! I hope you're up for a big long whinge, that's what it will take. Are you up for the challenge, champion. Are you?
Challenge accepted champion.
Oh no Mr Boon looking down that massive honker at sanfl fans again.
Bwaah!!!!! Eaten de shizen biggen snout.

There's a difference between criticism and whingeing. And unlike some posters who were initially opposed to the reserves crap, and then backflipped (i.e. you), my criticism will endure.
So yes sirree Booney, you can count on me for a good long train of criticism, particularly after yesterday what with the crows treating the game like crap and the 4k Crow fans not rocking up as promised by Trigg.
Well, there's your problem right there, you believed what Trigg said.![]()
I've not back flipped on the idea, I've just come to the realization it is what it is and a carefully placed banner or 20,000 posts on here probably won't change the fact and, simply, life's too short mate. Life's too short.
Wrong
it’s now not a protest banner but a statement of fact. Eric in all its glory

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
This situation provide an opportunity for the SANFL and the SA AFL sides to truly part ways once and for all.
No reserve sides by the looks of it with smaller AFL lists.
SANFL back to 8 teams.
There's only one more thing left to sort out for a true split.

I hate to say we told you so but we told you so.
Pack up your shite and get out.
What’s the difference between a one legged, stuttering, homeless guy with severe Tourette’s who has been unemployed for 5 years and Port Adelaide Magpies ????
The homeless guy might one day have a future.

Reckon that will be the end of the reserves sides in the SANFL. Only took a global pandemic but it finally happened.

I'm not sure they will. It depends on a bunch of things, port even though they will whinge about it more will be in a far worse position to field a side than the crows in 2021. Smaller lists and less money would make it hard to be back in 2021 i would've thought putting that money towards retaining players, coaches and other resources would be more important. We can only hope when the time comes the league doesn't let them back in or even worse lets them back in for a free ride.

Ironic that the Magpies 150th year could also be its last year.
