9 teams

Post by Brett »

I like the idea of 9 teams again. A bye and hopefully the SANFL Grand Final after the AFL.

I feel the Crows will want a reserves team , to was their idea but Port won't be able to afford it even though pay nothing to the SANFL I believe.

Looking forward to it.

If the AFL lists are reduced to 35 and they will have to do that to be able to support 18 clubs and repay the massive debt there will be absolutely no way that crows or port could maintain teams in the sanfl. Would not have the players or the funds

It’s proven to work and is sustainable. Won’t be a cheaper way of operating for all concerned.
Would require a few ego’s to be deflated on afl side, plus the Sanfl clubs need to be helped financially
to accomodate afl standard players needs  ..... whatever!
Only reason it changed was because of afl big daddy dollars with ass licking media types with zero interest
in the history and importance of Sanfl

This is a great opportunity to transform the SANFL back into a real community competition with the 8 real Clubs.
Salary caps and other spending can be reduced and we can have a more equal competition.
Might even attract back some supporters who gave up on the SANFL when it bent over backwards to accommodate the AFL reserves players.

8 Clubs, 8 teams - Crows & Port can look after themselves elsewhere.

Agree with the above, except I'm not sure I want to see the salary cap reduced further.

The AFLPA have done themselves no favours with the pay dispute either. Great time for footy supporters to support local.
I apologise.

The SANFL comp in future will be totally different. Will more than likely be an 8 team comp, will be no teams from Port or Crows.

Potentially could even be a 6 team comp (think Centrals and West in serious trouble).

Will be no Reserves comp, will have an Under 18 comp with six over aged players allowed.

Doubt will be any games played in 2020.

Central needs money BUT we're not going to fold.
