C31 Announce 2 Weekly SANFL Footy Shows

Postby Wedgie » Sun Mar 19, 2006 5:23 pm

This for those who don't get onto footysa, by ca:

C31 Television in Adelaide are proud to announce their 2 SANFL shows for 2006.

"Total SANFL", starting April 2 at 12pm, will feature match reviews (and preview of any Sunday matches), a "Player Of The Year" award, "Step Back In Time", which is a feature interview of a famous SANFL identity from yesteryear and a "Club Corner" segment. It will also include "On The Hill", which is the fan's chance to have their say to us at a different SANFL ground each week, along with "The Games", pitting players from all SANFL clubs against each other in different contests.

Hosted by 5RPH's Chris Kendall, and featuring many members of the 5RPH Footy Team, the Advertiser's SANFL correspondents, Coast FM and other familiar names to SANFL followers, the one hour show will be the ideal show for local footy fans to get extensive coverage of their league.

"After over two years work, and some false starts, it is fantastic to be finally able to confirm the two shows", Kendall stated. "It is a real privilege to be leading a team of such dedicated SANFL followers and journalists who are looking forward to bringing fans a superior level of coverage of our great league. We will bring the followers the coverage they deserve, of our competition."

Tuesday nights will feature "SANFL Insight", a half hour show looking at some of the deeper issues of the league, and interviewing a feature guest. Set for an evening timeslot, this show will aim to examine a number of different issues and perspectives.

"We really look forward to the fans getting right behind us and supporting the only shows, outside the ABC's excellent match coverage, that will be dedicated to the SANFL on Adelaide TV in 2006."

Fantastic news for the SANFL, only bad news is I have to tune my media centre on my 'puta into analogue as C31's not in digital. :(

Well done to Chris Kendall and others involved in getting these shows running, I look forward to a mate of mine from the old Coast FM SANFL show being on there although he's got a better head for radio. Any chance of bringing the "chick magnent" out of retirement for the show rd?

Info Re C31:

Tuning In
C31 is broadcast throughout the Adelaide metro area on UHF Channel 31. If you can receive a good quality image on Channel 28 (SBS) you should be able to pick up C31 too! Reception is improved if you live in direct line of sight with the ABC transmitter tower at Mount Lofty. You may also benefit by installing a UHF booster on your antenna.

All praise to Chris Kendall and the hours he has invested in the creation of this show. It deserves to have the unconditional full support of the SANFL and all nine clubs. In answer to your question Wedgie - although community tv caters for all tastes, the item you mentioned is highly offensive and could kill the show instantly. It only sees the bedroom these days....

Chris Kendall has 2 passions in life.

The Norwood footy club AND C31 getting UP and running.

His efforts and persistancy have been quite remarkable and he has a great team around him to help out with things...

Thanks, everyone. A good opportunity to thank the many involved that, as TigerBoss has mentioned, know this has been a real passion for some time and have offered much help, advice and an ear to bash to get to this stage!

It is an excellent team of people behind it, with many names that even casual followers of the league's media coverage will recognise, plus some new faces along the way. It will be a really great journey to head down, and looking forward to many of the followers on the league here, tuning in to see the news behind YOUR league. It would be great if the clubs get right behind us also, as they will be the main beneficiaries of such a venture.

TB - you're right about my passions in life (not forgetting Mrs K!). I suppose I have to be an "impartial" observer at Norwood games from now on  . Having said that, I will still be aiming to get to as many games as possible, to have those days when I can get right behind the Legs and take any TV hats off for an afternoon  :D

Chris, well done mate. Look forward to catching up with you for a drink for the opening game of Round 1 @ Norwood. This is fantastic news and your persistence, hard work and passion have paid off.

Cheers to you! :partyman:

I don't know Drebin "obviously not on planet earth" according to you at least. To be honest I've just never heard of it before. You can be sure I'll be trying to tune it now but. Once again great work C31, I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Nup, I forgot too.
You might want to remind people a couple of hours before it starts as its hard to remember not being on conventional TV guides or online TV Guides.
If I remember I will in the future.

Cheers for the feedback, fellas. A technical glitch meant that the show was not listed in the TV Guide last week, but will be in future.
Rooster_cracker - I'd love to see it repeated this week, but programming decisions are out of my hands :D . However, I'd strongly encourage any fans keen to see it back on to ring the channel to see if there is any chance of an encore performance this week.

Wedgie - good idea. I'll try to remember to put something on the forums on Sunday mornings to jog people's memories. Having said that, we're looking forward to people making this an unmissable staple of their Sunday lunchtimes

I saw it and thought it was excellent. The chat was intelligent and informed. It was also interesting putting a face to the names (Phil Herden = David Rabbitborough! ).

The match summaries were great because of the time given to each game. They were really detailed without getting dull. A failing of the RPH summaries on Monday morning is often they seem to be read from the paper. It was great having such a variety of guests too - there's no way one or two people can get to every game so by getting different people in there was much deeper analysis.

Two thumbs up, well done!

PS the only criticism would be the depressing bloody adverts. Geez in one block there were community service announcements for starving African kiddies, cancer, white lady funerals etc. Lighten up C31!
