Well done SANFL and Supporters

Postby NFC » Sun Sep 16, 2007 10:12 pm

I hear the crowd was in excess of 11k today which is a great turnout. Especially when you consider than it was raining early, very overcast up until about 1:30 and extremely windy.

Far from an ideal day but the people turned out, as they should when you offer such great value for money. $9 for an adult to see two league finals is tremendous value. Well done SANFL!

Great crowd considering the shocking conditions, if I'd known how the day was going to be for most of the day I would have predicted 8k.
The noise from the Sturt and the Bays fans early on when conditions were at their worst was unbelievable as we were in the car park for 3/4 of that game.
I didn't hear much from the Eagles supporters but when the North supporters were chanting on the hill that was also awesome.

You’d think with how successful they’ve been over the past 5+ years they would have a few fans. When they came running out onto the ground there was barely any support. How can such a successful club have so few supporters?

There would have roughly been about 1k Eagles fans there today, a terrible turnout.

Sturt had a lot and made a heap of noise. Bays had a good turnout too. North always do, but once again the crowd was let down by the Eagles.

The ROOOOSSTTERRSS chant came over loud and clear. I got all goosebumpply in the last qtr when I heard that and how North were playing.

SANFL = Fantastic.

Forecast for Sunday 23 with a late change (about quarter time of the second game thanks !!)....

So should be a EVEN BIGGER crowd this Sunday, especially with the Doggies back in action...

I was watching the WAFL on ABC2 and it was either a Semi or Prelim and they said that the crowd of about 5k was very good.

Will be interesting to see how many neutrals get along to this game after the great advertisement we had from such hotly fought games yesterday.

Treated my family to some SANFL finals footy last weekend. Got there near the end of the first quarter of the Elim Final. Walking toward the ground and hearing the roar on coming from within I couldn't wait to get inside. Thoroughly entertaining day.

In the Independent Weekly's Indaily, the SANFL is reported as saying that the ABC-TV audience was 35 per cent up on the equivalent day last year, to over 113,000. Let's hope that translates into a BIG haul of footy lovers doing themselves a BIG favour by getting along to witness Semi Finals action - LIVE AND LOUD - this Sunday.
