SFL SPY wrote:Reports are true, Brighton have been playing someone that has not been cleared from their previous club, he is an association player and if he didn't play on the weekend the bombers wouldn't of beaten reynella.
The Hills league made the precedent last year with Blackwood and the SFL with Happy Valley, looks like a long night tonight at SFL headquarters with some massive decisions to be made.
If Brighton do get disqualified does this mean Reynella will play in the GF or do Reynella play Happy Valley in another elimination final?

Spy, what a load of crap.. If your Aunty had a c*ck she'd be your uncle too... Are you saying Brighton rely on 1 player to determine whether they win or not...

Interesting times it seems... The incomprehensable component to all this banter is how the hell is this coming out in the week of the GF... If Spy is right and this guy has been playing all year why was this not detected earlier... I'll wait for the official statement from the league on this matter before i congratulate them "AGAIN"...

Have been told that a clearance was put through to his old club, his old club never replied.
So does anyone know the rule, is he ok to play or not.

If thats the case, then the bombers could be in big trouble.
Surely this would of had to come up before now.

If it is true, why are Reynella automatically put into the GF? What about Happy Valley and Lonsdale??? They were beaten by Brighton too while they allegedly played this uncleared player.

Don't jump the gun there Fly... Bass player is the one who has got it right... Just because you are the last team to lose to Brighton doesn't mean you are entitled to a "GIFT" appearance into a GF, if you can't earn your chance why not be gifted one... The Valley and Lonsadale are part of this tricky scenario... Valley wouldn't have trained for a fortnight... Oh this is messy...

yeah good point Bass. definately can't just hand it down the line. could be called off?? With the rule about the clearance , it all depends when it was sent, no matter what Brighton should have received confirmation back from the league. If his old club refused it could've been for financial reasons or he was contracted to play and quit therefore thet don't have to clear him. This then puts the onus back on Brighton to why wasn't this chased up and dealt with. If he's definately not cleared then brighton will be out of contention. Their only hope now is to hope that somehow the league knew about this previously and did not react otherwise game over.

Messy is a good word Mexican, but not for the Emus.

In every scenario sides other than Brighton would be under prepared.

Several Reynella players have probably already signed on with other clubs anyway...

This is possibly the best rumour we have all seen on the forum, and credit needs to go to the originator if thats the case...

Thats all this is...... banter!!!!! nothing will change. Its just given us something to talk about. brighton will play morphies. The only question may be if the player invovled takes the field saturday. I dont even think thats a question. he will play. brighton will play and the league will at most give brighton a fine or something for not having the correct paperwork for clearances etc.
If your going to take games off of brighton they would have to take away there whole season. to be fair to everyone. therfore win/loss ratios change. percentages change. the final 8 changes. mail medals change.
Outcome...... too much work.
Outcome...... nothing will change

See you all saturday....

Rules are Rules and if it is proven, the the last game he played is taken off his club, and Reynella declared winners an into G.F.
That is how it was explained to me and there was a precedent set last year H.V U18'S and Blackwood B grade in the hills league.Brighton admin said to H.V last year "dont you know the rules?" funny about that coming back to bite you.

fly, get your facts right before you start getting all excited about playing in a GF you don't deserve to be in. Blackwood is a whole different scenario given that they have four teams in two divisions - has nothing to do with being cleared from another club. They had a number of players come back from div 2 to div 1 who weren't qualified re: number of games etc.

Fly, I am going 1 step back, SFL must have copies of the paperwork from Brighton for the clearance. Do you think the SFL would have played this player in their own rep team if he was ineligable?

Whats the players name? did he play in the a-grade rep team last year or one of the junior rep teams.
