Perhaps our forward line needs a 'subsidy' ???

Saw a close up of Colville on TV and he's carrying a few injuries now. Had bandages everywhere. Would think the passion might be dwindling to go through another preseason and then league season with the pain he must be in. Similar position to the Gowans, actually. If his hammys are going then it's going to be a real struggle to get on the park.

Anyway, neither team look particularly strong to me, but neither are they lacking in ability. Glenelg's on ball division look very good with Douglas and Backwell in particular but defense might be their achilles heel. In finals a strong defense is vital so Eagles should win IMO. I think the eagles look better without Passador at the moment. He isn't that big a bloke to start with and seems to have lost a bit of speed. Still deadly with the ball in his hands, but keeping the ball out of his hands seems to be a much easier task now.

even though he does have his off days, the chopperdor would surely improve their fwd line from sunday?

and i agree grah.. coleville is looking every bit his age these days. am unsure of the amount of effective rehab that would go back into such a body. obviously not enough. he will be lucky to walk when he is 40! he definitely wont be heading to country footy next year and blowing them off the park anyhow... not as a player but perhaps as a coach

Will be a tough game to win.

Hopefully the wind stays away & both games can be a fair contest.

I feel pretty confident the Eagles will win.

I would like to see McGregor move to the back line, Grocke to start & Pass on the bench.
Would also like to see the young fella Petrenko play.
I would leave Inkster out as he hasn't been fit all year, could be used as a 'pinch hitter' next week if we get through.

Look is it just me or do the EAGLES miss a small forward ?
Two weeks in a row the Eagles could have used one IMHO.

Have been saying ALL YEAR...

"The one player we have missed is Westbrook"

He could not only 'crumb' a goal but could take a 'grab'.

Sadly, Symo is NOT in the same 'league' as Westy.

Geddes was the player they hoped would replace westbrook but he broke his arm round one.
he might be a chance this week after being on standby for grocke last week.

Passador could come in too if fit and Fairclough will replace colville.
Treeby should be ok.
I dont think rugulo will get a game, he seems to be on the outer lately

Crikey these Eagles fans are almost as quick to turn as North fans.
We tried telling them Ken McGregor was a big in for them a month ago but they swore Adam Grocke was better, now they're all asking for Grocke's head!

Thats a bit rough on me WEDGIE as it was me saying Grocke was better than kenny mac.
Grocke had a very bad game on Sunday he gave away to many 25 metre penalties and they ALL resulted in goals to North. This could be due to his injury as reported on this forum .
Kenny mac is not the answer up forward he does his best but I think he needs to play down back as he did earlier in the year.

Must be a weird injury!
All these years I thought Josh Coulter had a discipline issue at times and it turns out he may have just been carrying an injury!

Adam Grocke was one of our best players through the period earlier in the season and right through to when he got injured about a month ago. His efforts were sensational and he was in career best form. When the chips were down he was one player who lifted the side. Unfortunately, the way he has played in the past fortnight since coming back from injury hasn't been up to the standards he has set IMO. Perhaps this is also due to him playing a different rolegiven Ken has been at CHF. He doesn't look right physically and we all know his athleticism is one of the key components of his game. Players must learn to play with injury and if he gets another opportunity he needs to show he can still perform. I believe he has it in him to dig deep and perform.

Everyone has been saying how good the form of the Eagles has been, but IMO the best we played was in the period leading up to and including the game at Elizabeth. We have been so/so since then, but have generally managed to win.

Our best performances came when we had a forward line of Schwarze at FF, Salter floating forward and Grocke CHF. I thought our forward line functioned well when Passador was playing as well. I think Ken should be at CHB or deeper forward.

My team for this week:

Rugolo Schwarze Cooper
Salter Grocke Vince
Jarrad Cicolella Treeby
P Fiacchi McGregor McKenzie
Stewart Pedler Hier
Lindsay Powell Fairclough
Lomas Dabrowski Petrenko

IN: Rugolo (replacement for Symmons, he kicks goals, that's what we need, his last chance you would think), Fairclough (been good this year and more pace, start him on the ball), Petrenko (pace and talent, set him free and let him show what he can do at this level, don't just play him in the back line!!!)
OUT: Redden (not up to league standard yet), Symmons (poor form for the past month), Colville (injured)

I agree Aerie .
But would like to add when the eagles started to win YOUTH stepped up .What happened to youth on Sunday not playing with the exception of Redden.
And Ron was out coached
Players out classed.
This result should have happened the week before against Glenelg .But seeing it has happened against North this should be the wake up call the side needed .
