So Ive been doing some googling on Solar Systems, mainly last Sunday night, as per usual when you flick over to Facebook there are solar ads appearing in your feed.

Anyway last night I get home, check the mail, and there is a brochure in there from one of the solar companies that I had been googling, now I only went onto 3 websites and this was one of them.

Pure co-incidence or do they now have my address and have lobbed one in there in response to my web activity?

I'd say co-incidence, from what I know ( @Dissident ) it's quite hard to get your physical address from your IP, unless you're ASIO or SAPOL etc.

When you Googled, was it one of the top 3? Who was it? I'll do a test case.

Not co-incidence at all, there is a great doco on netflix at the moment about the different ways 'data' is purchased/used this day.

Apparently 'data' is the most valuable commodity on earth at the moment.

Whilst I'm normally anti conspiracy theories I mentioned a product within earshot of my phone the other day and not long later an ad for it appeared on facebook for the first time ever, take into account my phone, the Google pixel 3XL, is always "listening" as it displays the name and artist of songs playing in the background on its lock screen.

Yeah dont think that is to much of a conspiracy to be honest. No doubt if your phone is always 'listening' that date would most definitely be getting used for advertising purposes.

A classic is Facebook uses hundreds of 'touch points' to decide what marketing, adverts etc come up in your feed.
