Heading up for the day this Friday, probably looking for a good spot to have lunch and check out some wineries/brewery.
Was going to stay the night, but now going to head to Pt Hughes for the free bed up there.
I need to know....

Re: I need to know....
If you have never seen Mintaro it is worth a small visit there and isnt to far out of your way.
Also O'Leary Walkers is amazing but is 20 minutes before Clare.
Their lunch platters are the best in the business and the view is stunning.

Re: I need to know....
Awesome thanks, will look all of these up.
Wedding anniversary and taking advantage of the employer giving me a day off to spend time in fire impacted area's. I know Clare wasn't affected but going to do breakfast in Lobethal on the way up and finish on the YP.
Did a B&B in Mintaro quite a few years back, do remember the pub quite well!
Hoping to drop through Robertstown on the way up also, lived there for 18 months as a 5yo.

If your a pub man the only pub worth visiting is Sevenhill, amazing meals and the cellar room is imo the most beautiful in the state...big call.
The rest of the pubs dont offer anything you cant get at your local, definitely stick to the wineries and breweries.
Let me know how you go, always interested to hear visitors thoughts.

Re: I need to know....
I found the Sevenhill Winery Cellar was the most disappointing one we went to, for the picturesque interior and exterior the staff were less than welcoming and their wine tasting samples were barely enough to get a taste.whufc wrote:Nice mate. Re: I need to know....
I have Auburn and Sevenhill on par as the best 2 pubs in the Valley.
They are a step above the others for food quality.
If you are just there for lunch pick between those 2 or Indii in the main street.
Oleary walker and sevenhill cellars would be my choices for wineries to call into.

If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!
