Warner overall average overseas is 34.50 which imo is below par and probably has him below the likes of Haydn, Taylor and Langer who were far more consistent globally than Davey.

The statistics dont look great especially taking into account i believe the two biggest overseas tours for an Australian cricketer are England and India.

in New Zealand averages 13.00
in Sri Lanka average 27.17
in West Indies averages 26.90

The topic has got me thinking how does one determine who a 'All Time Great' is.

Trying not to use the term to loosely i thinking about the top 1%, what are your t&c's.

For mine:
-Overall average must be over 50.
-Away average must be over 45 which means you were world class both home and away
-The away average must include an average of over 50 away from home against one of England or India...the truest tests for an Aussie batsmen.
-50 tests to qualify, longevity is part of being great....keeping in mind 50 tests for older players was hard to achieve.

Based on my qualifications players that are 'Great' off the top of my head are:

Sir Donald Bradman
Steve Smith
Steve Waugh
Allan Border

Greg Chappell
Ricky Ponting
Matty Hayden

Modest performances in England (42 average) and very much below par in India (26). Ruled him out of the 1% greats based on my requirements.

Has played 2 matches in New Zealand, hardly a time to declare he's inept there.

Has played 8 matches in India, so I'll cop his 24 there is below par.

Has played 3 matches in Sri Lank, see New Zealand.

In England, 651 runs at 26 and in South Africa ( I note you left that out ) 760 runs at 63.

I'll give you England and India as below par, wouldn't be many Aussies who would be close to their career average in India though.
