They need to get a hurry on either way.
Paine needs to start playing some shots and move the scoring along.

It’s the first session of day 2, plenty of time remaining

True.
But Head and Paine are both better when they are scoring runs at a good rate.

Travis persists with swishing at the crap down leg side. Leave it alone.

He might not look much but wagner has a wonderful record. Full credit to the bloke.

I like Wagner as a cricketer. He doesn't look much but he moves it a bit when swing is around and bowls his guts out all the time. Bowls a heavy ball and the way he was still running round the outfield after charging in bowling in that heat shows he's a deadset team player. A bit of Merv about him. Against most Test nations yesterday we would've been around 330 at the close, the Kiwis showed a lot of discipline under duress. They are missing Boult badly, Southee stands taller with him at the other end.

30 overs for Wagner, he is a machine, a very fit man. Now has 700 first class wickets and has a better test match strike rate than Boult and Southee. I was really interested to see how he would go here and so far, in the stifling conditions, he's showing us how important to NZ he is.

At 5/325 I think we are traveling just fine, the run rate in this session so far is just above 3.5 an over.

FFS, Head gone for 56, hits it straight to cover. He was going well, f**k that's frustrating.

I'm surprised at how much the pitch is spinning early.

I genuinely thought the art of spinning could potentially be in trouble with the continued development of day/night tests. I thought the combination of the favourable pace bowling conditions, pitches that in theory might not break up as much due to being covered for more sunlight hours but that hasn't been the case at all this summer so far.

Easy mate, would’ve been told to get a 50 then have a go, the shot was there, a little bit either side and there’s another boundary

Plenty of admiration for the Kiwi’s, coming over here and fielding in the heat first up, they’ve bowled to a plan and now they have bat in tough conditions, how important is the coin toss in day’nighters?
