Re: 2020 Player movement
Do we know what money our clubs get. Is it an amount the AFL give dependant on how many players are drafted and does it include rookies.? Does the SANFL pocket any? Or is it just part of the payments from the Crows and PA to the SANFL?

Re: 2020 Player movement
I think it is still 30K. It is split between the 8 SANFL clubs and does not form part of the payment that the Crows pay to play.

Menzel signed
That gives us our 5th quality star at SANFL level... Schiller times two Menzel times two and Hoskin.
Need another couple of top shelf players.
Maybe it comes from within? Presbury or Fort or a youngster such as East or Shaw?

We might set a record for the number of brothers in a team.

As far as I can ascertain the record for brothers in the one team, at least since the Second World War is as follows :
In 1974 West Torrens had 5 sets of brothers play league during the year but I don't know whether they all played in the one team. These 5 sets of brothers, were Fred and Brenton BIlls, Steve and Mark Pavlich, Murray and Alan Forbes, Greg and Scott White and Peter and Michael Cousins.
In 1970-71 North Adelaide had six sets of brothers on their list but no more than four sets played league together in the one seasons.
These sets of brothers were Barrie and Rodney Robran, Dennis and Neil Sachse, Maurie and Ken Francou, David and Michael Burns, Peter and Paul Schulz and Kevin and Jeff Barr.
As an aside their were a few handy sires amongst them with Josh Francou, Scott Burns, Jay Schulz and Matthew and Jonathan Robran all being quality AFL players after their respective fathers and uncles had played in a successful SANFL club of their time.

In fairness we may have had a side that featured the Gowans, Cochranes and Westoffs all at the same time.

I notice C9 mention Tyson Goldsack as Development coach and marquis player. Fair old foot up for OA. Do they really need marquis players?

Given they"ve made about 3 out of 5 grand finals would suggest they dont need any greater advantages. Supposedly they need the experienced players, yet they had the likes of sutcliffe, trengrove (a former captain) , motlop etc playing, to go along with a coaching staff of about 10.

Nobody remembers who finished second adage doesn't apply on here
33 next year, history of injuries and didn't feature at all for Collingwood last year. Instead of the default reaction of sulking you guys should be laughing at this signing.

22 and counting
Here's a list of SANFL clubs with a longer premiership drought than Port
South, the end
With Souths recruiting hopefully that changes this year.
Youre' probably only 10-15 years off becoming everyones 2nd favorite club, you know, a bit like Woodville were

And both still have more premierships than your mob
So you want South to win over Centrals. Have you forgot to change usernames yet again?

Re: 2020 Player movement
Would Goldsack be extra insurance for the Power considering players can get picked up in the mid season draft now? Say a couple of their defenders go down with LTI's he is there ready to go.

Absolute joke that Port and Adelaide get a marquee player and the other 8 clubs don't.

Don't think so, still have Lienert, Garner, Mckenzie, Mayes waiting their turn in the magoos. More about the development coach role this one I reckon. Trengove, in terms of a playing capacity, would be a better marquee choice IMO.

So you want your club to pay, at a guess, 3 to 4 times the worth for a player who is at the end of his career

Re: 2020 Player movement
Where did he say that? You don't have to have a player at the end of his career to be in the role. Sutcliffe is and was far from the end of his career.
Its application is in reality an increase in salary cap should it go down that path for the SANFL clubs.
That said, what would have stopped Port from playing Goldsack and also signing another player as its marquee? Football department spend perhaps?
I think he was pointing out that the two AFL clubs get given a further advantage in terms of ability to draw a player in that the other clubs don't get.
It is after all the SANFL competition which you would think would be run for the benefit of its constituent clubs. Silly me.
