2007 1st semi Eagles v Glenelg

Postby MightyEagles » Sun Sep 16, 2007 7:46 pm

Can the Eagles rebound (I hope so) or can Glenelg keep going? or will it go into overtime?

Danger Game?

Hopfully SLSP comes out with all guns blazing, based on today, i am tipping a 4 quarter effort and Glenelg to shock the doubters. 17 points

I think this will be a tight one. Glenelg certainly won't be able to give the Eagles a start like they did the blues today otherwise it could get ugly. The Eagles with the more hardened finals experience will come out on top and set up a rematch with the Rooters the week after. GO THE MIGHTY EAGLES !!! :D

The Eagles will have a huge advantage in finals experience.... Glenelgs last month and a half of footy has been teriffic and all points to a wonderful match. Eagles still favourites though IMO.

How can you say that ELH after the start North gave you upto and beyond 1/2 time. WWT were 30 points up at one stage, in a low scoring game under difficult conditions.

From a neutrals point of view, I think this game is going to be a real tough call. the Bays should be fired up for next week and have been playing some pretty good stuff coming into the finals, and whilst the from book may read the same for WWT, I wonder how much losing to North today, and more importantly how they lost, will affect their confidence going into next week.

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not so sure what previos "finals experience" has to do with it. It's about how you play on the day and to their credit, the Bays have shown what they can do in a finals game, under pressure, at the Adelaide Oval in front of a decent crowd.

I think two main factors next week will be, 1) the weather conditions. Fine and dry might suit Glenelgs style better as they can score goals quickly and, 2) the ins / outs. Don't get me wrong both affect both sides and I agree to some extent, that WWT are a much tougher nut to crack than Sturt.

I'm not overly unhappy with the result yesterday because I actually think if we get past the Bays (& I expect we will) we will beat North in the Prelim.

What does concern me however is this ...

1. McGregor unbalances our side if he plays up forward, I would much prefer to see him in defence. :?
2. The FACT that our team has FAILED to play 4 quaters ALL YEAR & that really concerns me in finals.
3. The bays would have the same type of 'self belief' that North have after their win over the Toodles. 8)

Ronnie Fuller & the playing group have A LOT of work to do but the season is FAR from over for us. :)

Go You Eagles !!!

This will be a very close game IMHO.Fingers crossed the EAGLEs will come out winners.
But after watching both games yesterday even with bad goal kicking the EAGLEs skills look better than that of glenelg .
In the first game so many handballs by Glenelg and not all of them went to glenleg players!! And Glenleg did like to go to the vic richardson side of the ground and kick to packs and ignore lose players in the centre.
And I'm not saying the EAGLEs were perfect yesterday very far from it, but that IMHO was a wake up call. The eagles had not lost a game since losing to Centrals by 12 points it was better to lose yesterday rather than next week.
Any one heard what the weather will be like next Sunday hopefully not a wind that starong again that changes through the day.
And if Passador plays he will straighten the eagles up.and Kenny mac move him back he played so well at the bay against the bays in the back half.

Maybe career? I shouldn't have been surprised by Colville's performance, because he has been doing it his whole career, but the way he played yesterday before going off injured was still from the top shelf despite missing weeks with injury. If the Eagles make the Grand Final, he will play. He is one player that doesn't need to regain touch and can come straight back in and do the job.

colville's injury won north the game imo as he was blanketing ladhams who hardly had a sniff but when colville left the field freeing up ladhams who then started to get the ball & bring others into the game as for this weeks game obviously the eagles will be favourite but it may come down to whose available for both teams i know one bay player who is in doubt & it looks like colville is out & does anyone know what was wrong with treeby ? he didn't look well
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I really cannot predict a winner in this one. Even the Second Semi leaves me puzzled as to who to pick. A truly wonderful SANFL finals series this year!
