Ruory Kirkby

One of the best individual performances I’ve seen from a forward in a fair while. Might not have kicked many goals, but he was dominant out there today. Took probably a dozen marks, some contested, and he continued presenting all day. Used the ball well on that lovely left foot of his, and his work rate was outstanding. Kept the Bays in the game in the first half when they had nothing going and his last half was just as good.

Brilliant game and he may find himself back on an AFL list next year.

Number 26 isn't he? He was great today. Stood out as easily the best forward on the ground and handled the conditions well.

Wise decision.

Yep Aerie, #26. Played brilliantly today and as you said had no issues with the conditions. He’s really developing into a good forward.

Brant Chambers kicked six of eight Sturt goals today Aerie. Kirkby was certainly excellent but I can't believe you think he was easily the best forward on the ground today. :?

Well it helps when Chambers was the only guy they went to. They often cleared out the forward 50 just for him.

Kirkby was the best player from either side today, IMO of course.

Still got to kick them NFC.

And in today's conditions......kicking six is a damn good day out in anybody's language....IMO of course.

Bit of a masterstroke putting Rudolph up forward as well given his good performances on Chambo in the past.

Kirkby was great and he needed to be as his mate up forward No 28 Sellar was just awful. As a neutral viewer it was good to just seat back and watch. Its great to get a young kid like Kirkby see him develop and maybe stay at the club for 10-12 years.

As impressed as I was with Kirkby I was very disappointed with the Crow's No 1 pick. Sellar didn't seem to have a feel for the game and showed me nothing I could get excited about. I believe he won the MVP medal at the U16 carnival and after that grew to be at one stage the nominal No1 draft pick. Selected at 14 by the Crows after an injury and illness haunted U18 carnival did other team recruiters see something the Crows didn't? Could a Glenelg supporter give me a further evaluation of Sellar.

i was surprised Sell got a re-call to the league team after spending the majority of the year in the ressies. Id like him to stay in the league team this week, i dont think the conditions really suited big forwards.

if the weather is a nice, blue skies, sunny day, little breeze he will dominate this weekend......

Agree with MT79, there where a few others that had games they will want to forget, i think the conditions really put a few of our forwards off there game, i really wouldn't expect macca or Sellar to play like the did last weekend, they will be busting there gut to make amends this week..
