The Club is delighted to announce our second new signing for the 2020 season, Collingwood Premiership Player Tyson Goldsack. Tyson joins us after an illustrious career at the highest level, bringing a wealth of AFL experience (165 games, 52 goals) to our entire playing group.

During his time in the AFL, Tyson played in Collingwood’s 2010 Premiership and represented Australia in the International Rules series that year. At 193cm and 93kg, Tyson gives us flexibility across the ground and is sure to make the players around him better with his leadership and knowledge.

Please join us in welcoming Tyson, his wife Chelsea and children Harriet & Cleo into the SPOC community!

He's only been a D1 coach for one year, what do you expect?

Geez, it even took Macca 15 years to achieve the same feat

Well sounds like there is no use trying to explain anything to you as you have your mind made up it is for a crap load of cash and school fees for his kids and all that.
Maybe it is for his wife and he has made enough coin out of his AFL days and the bloke has a few buisness inbtrests and inst chasing or needs the cash.

I really don't understand this. You read so much on here about how Country can lure players due to reasons including monetary/work/lifestyle, and then a collegiate side scores a big player and people start crying foul. Truth is they are a team on the up and will use whatever resources available to them, whether it be money/work/lifestyle who cares. Good on them.

Especially when he can play in four better leagues surrounding the city. Mind boggling

But we are all ill-informed and clueless according to that Facebook Page.

What is starting to s--t me is all the speculation about $$ that players must be getting etc. Whilst many of the blokes getting their mugs on that FB page are playing at their 3 or 4th club in 6 or 7 years and clearly $$ is a factor, there are still plenty of talented footballers out there who genuinely love playing footy and aren't doing it for $$.

I don't know Tyson Goldsack but from several interviews I've heard over the years he comes across as a level headed good bloke despite playing for Collingwood!! He declared back in August that he was moving to Adelaide with his wife Chelsea (Adelaide girl?) and young family. I've heard no talk of him having a role at Port/Crows/SANFL so I'm assuming he may have had non-football related employment arranged and that is where a connection with SPOC may have come into it. No doubt he could have got big bikkies in the nearby country leagues if he shopped himself around but can't people just appreciate that here is a bloke who still wants to have a kick at a decent level without the time commitment that SANFL requires and not fussed with demanding the $$ that he could still earn from playing footy.

I'm sure he would have done his homework and despite our friend pumping up the quality of BLG, HFL and GSFL, Tyson has clearly chosen the best comp outside the SANFL.

I like the Facebook posts for new recruits, however some clubs, including SPOC, put a post up for every player that recommits for 2020!!! Overkill at the extreme.
