Calling all Roosters!!!

Postby eaglehaslanded » Sun Sep 16, 2007 8:05 pm

Calling all Roosters!!! Are we happy with the umpiring today. Do you have something to complain about. When the game was on the line today the umpires influenced the game. The final margin of 7 points makes me sick when I know that North got more than 7 points given to them from poor umpiring decisions. The umpiring in the second half was woeful and the comeback by North can be definately attributed to that. After today I don't possibly think any North fan can have any reason to complain about umpiring decisions costing them game ever again.

Watched most of the game and i thought that the umpiring was in the eagles favour for most of the match and then in the last quarter they tried to even it up and north looked like they got a few soft frees, but thats normally what happens. Shits me to sometimes, but if anything i thought that the eagles got a good run over the whole game but i could be wrong, just my opinion.

SOUNDS LIKE SOAR GRAPES eaglehaslanded, Eagles had plenty of the ball but didn’t take their chances in front of goals and there was No scoreboard pressure, North started to run Eagles stopped. Game Over

Thought umpiring in the first half was good I don't know it actually favoured us though. Would have been 50-50 I would have thought. When North started making a run the umpires joined in the fun and gave them a couple of real soft frees which directly resulted in goals. When the final margin is 7 points these decisions proove costy and some might say the ultimate difference maker.

No sour grapes here. We had our share of the ball that is true and our inaccuracy didn't help our cause but I saw a lot of decisions being called one way in the latter half of the game and under similar circumstances earlier not be called the other way. You make what you want from that.

Heh Eagles supporters, watching the game i thought the umpires did not influence the final outcome. If the Eagles had kicked straight, they had the Roosters on toast but bad goal kicking is bad football. Injuries to Colville who had killed Ladhams and Treeby played a bigger parts in the loss than the umpires.

Eagles should have put North away by 3/4 time.

I didnt watch the game all that closely but there certainly was some over-officiating

You don't cough up a lead like that with a few umpires decisions going against you. Toughen up because the umpires had nothing to do with it.

The past 2 North vs Eagles games have been great close games of football which have been badly interfered with by some ridiculous umpiring.

Definately not.

Final Free Kick Tally today:
Eagles 41
North 34

Amazing effort from North today.
41 free kicks is unheard of these days. :?

Only time things have been even between these 2 clubs was earlier in the year when North flogged the Eagles.
It's not rocket science.

Wasn't there so this isn't an opinion. The radio boys said that the game was over umpired, that the umps didn't take the conditions into account enough and that WWT got most of the 50 50's.

Called a few soft free's for both but never once said that they gave North the rub.
(Which is in stark contrast to the last time North and WWT met at Woodville).

EHL, how many goals did WWT miss today. If they kicked straight North would have been dead and buried by half time. (Or was that down to the umps as well)

I'd love to get the dvd of that match and do the same biased report of the goals not from frees/goals from frees of that match like you did.

Not that it matters though, because North were the better side on that day, no question.

Could not here one from the hill. Seriously.

North kicked straighter today. That was the difference.

IMHO, match changing events:

Coalville going off, gave Ladhams soom freedom and he set up Wrights goal that got North moving.
Moving Hart on the ball. North started winning it from the rucks.
Swithcing Alleway and McIntyre, helped stem the goals from WWT
Two quick goals from Lonie off O'Hara
Bringing Josh Cubillo into the game. Played a blinder for 1 and 1/2 qtrs

Just a radio perspective.

I must admit I was amazed by the number of free kicks. 75 seems like a bit of a record for a match. I certainly cannot remember any game getting up that high before. As with JTC, I cannot say whether it influenced the game as I was not there.
Is it not interesting though that both Sturt and the Eagles had chances to win the game if they could have kicked straighter (the Eagles in the second and third quarters, Sturt having Feast miss from 15 metres out, dead in front). Yet, supporters of both sides get stuck into the umpires instead of rueing their missed opportunities. I must admit that most Sturt supporters on here have accepted the result very magnamiously. It was just at the game that they seemed to have got stuck into the umpires (I believe that one man was thrown out for his attack on an umpire at the end of the match).
However, that said, let us give credit to four sides that gave their all today in two absolute crackers of matches. Viva the SANFL!!

No worries. Now the problem is here, is that I'm not the kind of person to do something like that really - I'm generally all just words, if in fact I do say anything at all. So, if I really feel like it I will PM you. But the bottom line is, the winner deserves the points (or today, the progression onwards to the 2nd semi), because they were in front when the siren counted.

And that goes to eaglehaslanded, too - we kicked shithouse for goal in the third, and that's where the game was lost. I have said time and time again, no matter how you feel about umpiring, you should be good enough to win without their help.
