Rumour is they've been locked without new ones created because there is about to be a major announcement, something about the CEO perhaps....

Furthermore, why do we lock and start new threads every season? Why not just continue on like the cricket threads do?

Because, Mr Smarty Emu Pants

I locked them with view to starting new ones and I got busy at work.

If you had concerns with this, you could've just sent a PM instead of carrying on about it :?

Hardly carry on kiddo, just a question.

Was more interested to know why the threads don’t just roll over from year to year like cricket does to be honest.

It's just easier to keep track of what goes on year by year. Historically, the footy threads got more traffic than cricket so it was easier to do

Can you imagine rolling over the bloody D6 thread? We'd be on page 1000 of utter garbage by now

I won't put any new threads up until tomorrow, I'm sure there's nothing that can't wait until then. I can't be bothered doing it tonight. ;)

obviously ive been living under a rock or something, but when did the "OK" sign with the hand become something that is apparently a "white power" gesture?

saw an article about a police officer at the mining protest in Melbourne apparently flashing a white power hand signal, and how horrible that is, but to me it was just him telling someone "ok". not that i recall the last time i used it, but if i saw someone using it i wouldnt have thought anything of it.

am i that out of touch?

It's the Age of Outrage. If you want to be part of it you need to pick up on any and all things that can, in any way possible, be misconstrued/misinterpreted/misrepresented and turned into truth.

If you receive settlement money from someone you’ve sued, do you pay tax on that amount?

I think the only way you don't pay tax is if it's a personal/physical injury compensation.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

If its not income related I wouldn't think so.

I received a payment from Victims of Crime once and didn't pay any tax.

Yep. Even then it would have to be for 'pain and suffering', known as general damages, to be able to avoid paying tax.

If it were for some sort of quantifiable financial loss, e.g. loss of income, medical bills etc., it would be assessable income.
