You would give up pick 37 all day everyday for a dual premiership player, in the best 22 of the most dominant side in the comp.
Gold Coast aren't giving up anything. Richmond are getting pick 37 as compensation. Great deal for Suns, they get a dual premiership player, albeit an outside runner. Great deal for Ellis .... he gets more money and is guaranteed a game each week. Still a good deal for Richmond as they free up some salary space and the way they are going they'll probably pluck a diamond with pick 37.

Ellis averages 2.5 tackles over a great career. Outside player maybe, but his pressure on the ball carrier is why Richmond have progressed so quickly. Make no mistake if he was still in contract he would be a first round pick minimum. Massive pick up by the Suns and the smartest thing they have done for a long time.

It’s a big IF but if he is over his OP he could end up with multiple AA awards. Still young enough to have a very good career. If Papley is worth pick 9 then Joe is easily worth pick 5 provided he is fit

What rubbish, there isn't a club that would give you a 1st round pick for Ellis. I cant help but think he will be playing NEFL within 3 years, looks like the type of bloke that will get very comfortable with his long term security secured

Said at the time the Swans rolled over on that one. They should have dug their heels in and made the Hawks pay up. They probably still were feeling bad for pinching Buddy for nothing though

Are you comparing Ellis to Mitchell, sums up your knowledge LMA lol Mitchell wasn't exactly setting the world on fire, Longmire didn't allow it. He left because Longmire was a dick and didnt give him the opportunities he wanted. Was a very fair trade.

He was averaging over 30 a game in his last year st the swans. Took a while to get in due to his lack of defensive pressure. A very good offer was on the table to keep him
