After the renovations to increase the capacity of Adelaide Oval to 40,000, I think it would be perfect to have the SANFL Grand Final there.

What was the attendance at the start of the game, Vs start of second half?[/quote]

It was probably 20,000 when all you blokes went home. :D

That is true. the only worry with Adelaide oval for me is its capacity. if the SANFL changed it and were then able to sell out adelaide oval they would be missing alot of money from the people who could not get tickets

Only an idiot with a small memory (or someone who thinks it will be Central v Eagles every year) would think the GF should be moved to Adelaide Oval.
North and West drew a crowd in the 30,000s and if you have clubs like Port, Glenelg, Norwood, Sturt or North involved Adelaide Oval just will not cater for it.
Its not rocket science.

With Adelaide Oval's capacity increased to 40 000 after the redevelopment, it should cater for the typical SANFL GF attendance. Currently, Adelaide Oval is too small for the SANFL GF. However, Adelaide Oval currently struggles to cater for big crowds, as evidenced by the Slowdown's move to AAMI this year. If they can't cater for 30 000, what chance do they have with 40 000?

Still, having the GF at AAMI rewards the players of the two sides that make it. Having the GF played at Adelaide Oval would cheapen the SANFL brand IMO.

Cheapen the brand? I would say the reverse. The Adelaide Oval is much nicer than AAMI Stadium. The Adelaide Oval is one of the most well known tourist attractions in South Australia. It's city location is convenient for everyone.

The SANFL GF at AAMI Stadium would be considered the 23rd most important game at that stadium throughout the year (unless there are AFL finals which would put it further down the list). An SANFL GF at Adelaide Oval would be a unique event each year.

40,000 is plenty enough and if it gets sold out then good. Arrangements could be made to ensure members of clubs get the chance to pre-purchase a ticket. Given no club even has 3000 members, I don't think capacity of 40,000 will be a problem and if some band-wagoners miss out then too bad, it will make them be prepared to get a ticket early for the year after. 20,000 at Adelaide Oval is a great atmosphere. 20,000 at AAMI Stadium is not.

AAMI Stadium's blaring blue seats just don't do it for me anymore. Let it be a money spinner for the SANFL and the cold concrete home of the SANFL's cold concrete AFL clubs. Get the SANFL Grand Final back to it's original home at the Adelaide Oval - where more SANFL Grand Finals have been played than anywhere else.

How about we compromise, if its Eagles v Central play it at Adelaide Oval.
If it involves a few other teams keep it at Aami.
It might be the 23rd most important event at Aami in the SANFL's eyes but a GF at Adelaide Oval would be about the 45th most important event in the SACA's eyes.
And isn't it the members that's just expanding?
Wouldn't help a real lot as it probably wouldn't be packed anyway.

Yeah good one.

Because the dogs have no support.

Try getting there, then we might be interested in North's GF support possiblities.

*A little more than half tanked now, heading off to Salisbury shortly to celebrate the GF win this arvo!

Mate, you need to hop off the turps! I only suggested that because your said giddyup to the idea and I thought you were a Central fan.
BUT it is an interesting point re the crowd numbers with the Dogs involved with them having a very good following, I think a few neutrals are turned off a bit though.

Turps is great. Give it a whurl.

Many would be surprised at what I'd say 'giddy up' to at the moment.

I agree with this.

IMO unless it's clearly going to be a crowd of about 25k, it has to be at AAMI.
